MPIF*1.0*60 is the only required build for patch MPIF*1.0*76. The following issue resolution exported in this patch is needed to ensure population of the Full Integration Control Number (ICN) occurs for patients at the North Chicago Veteran's Affairs Medical Center (VAMC). Issue The Master Patient Index (MPI) team has determined that North Chicago's Registration User Interface (UI) is NOT getting the FULL ICN (#991.1) field in the PATIENT (#2) file populated. After some research, the MPI team discovered that the North Chicago's UI is calling the Application Programming Interface (API) entry point SETICN^MPIF001, but when patch MPIF*1.0*60 was released to implement the new FULL ICN field (#991.1) in the PATIENT (#2) file, a NEW API was created and added to all of the routines where the national code calls instead of modifying the original SETICN^MPIF001 API call causing North Chicago not to get a Full ICN value when registering patients through their UI. Therefore, MPI will modify the SETICN^MPIF001 API to now call the Full ICN API to set the FULL ICN (#991.1) field in the PATIENT (#2) file as well as the fields it currently sets today. Finally, MPI will remove all of the previously defined Full ICN API references that were created in MPIF*1.0*60 in conjunction with the SETICN^MPIF001 API. NOTE: The POST-INIT that previously ran in MPIF*1.0*60 will be ported into MPIF*1.0*76 (Routine MPIFP76) to be executed again to populate/seed any missing FULL ICN (#991.1) and FULL ICN HISTORY (#991.91) values in the PATIENT (#2) file that have been assigned a National ICN value. For the majority of sites the post-install will probably not do anything as the FULL ICN (#991.1) and FULL ICN HISTORY (#991.91) fields will be already populated for all PATIENT (#2) file records. Documentation describing the new functionality is not included in this release. Documentation Title File Name --------------------------------------------------------------------- N/A Patch Installation: Pre/Post Installation Overview ------------------------------ The post-init routine MPIFP76 will populate the FULL ICN (#991.1) field and the FULL ICN HISTORY (#991.91) multiple from the existing patients in the PATIENT (#2) file that have a national ICN value if the values do NOT already exist in these fields. The Post-Install process will be automatically tasked to run in the background, as the run-time will vary based on the number of records contained in the PATIENT (#2) file. The Post-Install routine MPIFP76 can be deleted after the task has completed. NOTE: For the majority of sites the post-install will probably not do anything as the FULL ICN (#991.1) and FULL ICN HISTORY (#991.91) fields will be already populated for all PATIENT (#2) file records. Pre-Installation Instructions ----------------------------- This patch takes less than a minute to install. This patch may be installed with users on the system, but it is recommended that installation occur during off hours to avoid collisions. The post-install will automatically be tasked to run in the background. The routine MPIFP76 can be deleted once the task "MPI/PD - Populate new Full ICN fields" has run to completion. Back-Out Plan ------------- The MPIF patch backout procedure would consist of restoring the original routines using the back-up message created during the patch installation. If assistance is still required to back-out the patch please contact the National Service Desk (NSD) to log a help desk ticket so the development team can assist in the process. Note: This process should only be done with the concurrence and participation of the development team and the appropriate VA Site/Region personnel.
