$TXT Created by DEVCRN.DOMAIN.EXT (KIDS) on Thursday, 02/13/20 at 14:25 ============================================================================= Run Date: JUN 24, 2020 Designation: MPIF*1*73 Package : MPIF - MASTER PATIENT INDEX VISTA Priority: Mandatory Version : 1 SEQ #69 Status: Released Compliance Date: JUL 25, 2020 ============================================================================= Associated patches: (v)MPIF*1*61 <<= must be installed BEFORE `MPIF*1*73' (v)MPIF*1*71 <<= must be installed BEFORE `MPIF*1*73' Subject: MASTER VETERAN INDEX VISTA ENHANCEMENT - PROXY ADD PATIENT Category: - Routine - Enhancement (Mandatory) Description: ============ NOTE: To prevent legacy systems ending up as Treating Facilities, RG* and MPIF* patches should NOT be installed on legacy systems or the FORUM CLAIMS system (since it is NOT a Veterans Affair Medical Center (VAMC) VistA system). MPIF*1.0*61 and MPIF*1.0*71 are the required builds for patch MPIF*1.0*73. NOTE: Do NOT install MPIF*1.0*73 on legacy sites or on the FORUM CLAIMS system. The following enhancement exported in this patch is needed to support the VistA side creation of patients through the 'Proxy Add Patient' process, especially as sites make the transition to the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM), e.g. CERNER, application. Enhancement To facilitate support for Interfacility Consults (IFC) and other similar apps in VistA, especially as sites migrate to the EHRM application, a modification to accommodate a VistA side 'Proxy Add Patient' will be implemented so that VistA and now EHRM (CERNER) will NOT log an error and/or fail when encountering patients whose identities are NOT known. Forcing a patient addition at the end-point site (VistA and/or EHRM) will ensure that the patient will always be known prior to these applications pushing their events to these systems, resulting in a high-degree of confidence that the request will be successful, without requiring the logging of an error or failing, which would necessitate manually performing the Registration of the patient. **Note: Previously IFC would log an 'Unknown Patient' error when the patient's identity was NOT known, requiring manual Registration of the patient to be performed.
