$TXT Created by DEVRAD.DOMAIN.EXT (KIDS) on Monday, 06/03/24 at 13:25 ============================================================================= Run Date: AUG 02, 2024 Designation: RA*5*214 Package : RA - RADIOLOGY/NUCLEAR MEDICINE Priority: Mandatory Version : 5 SEQ #197 Status: Released Compliance Date: SEP 03, 2024 ============================================================================= Associated patches: (v)RA*5*169 <<= must be installed BEFORE `RA*5*214' (v)RA*5*208 <<= must be installed BEFORE `RA*5*214' Subject: RA MAINTENANCE: PROCEDURE ENTER/EDIT & ACCESSION NUMBER INTEGRITY Category: - Routine Description: ============ There are two issues to be addressed in patch RA*5.0*214: 1) The 'Procedure Enter/Edit' option allows the user to edit one procedure at a time. To edit more than one procedure, the option must finish the initial procedure edit event and exit the option. This is inefficient when having to add/edit more than one procedure. 2) Under certain circumstances an accession number, used by the VistA RIS for exams, may be duplicated. If exams and reports are shared with commercial off the shelf systems (COTS), patient care information can become compromised. Problem: ---------- The 'Procedure Enter/Edit' option allows the user to edit one procedure at a time. To edit multiple procedures per session, the user must select the 'Procedure Enter/Edit' option multiple times. Specifically, as many times as there are procedures to edit. Resolution: -------------- Update the 'Procedure Enter/Edit' to 'loop back' and ask the user for another procedure to edit without having to re-enter the 'Procedure Enter/Edit' option from the menu. When finished adding/editing, ask the user to run a validity check on CPT and stop codes once, when exiting the option. INC32804438 - Vista allows same accession number twice for radiology exam. Problem: -------- Under certain circumstances when an exam, with an associated report, is deleted a duplicate accession number could be generated. This is because the report, associated with the exam, is marked as deleted. The existence of a report record, thought 'marked as delete' may compromise patient care when the VistA RIS shares information with COTS systems. Resolution: ----------- Do not allow the creation of a duplicate accession number if a 'marked as deleted' report references a canceled or deleted exam. The decision to back-out or rollback software will be a joint decision between development team, VA site/region personnel and other appropriate VA personnel. A national help desk ticket should be logged before attempting any backout procedures. Prior to installing an updated KIDS package, the site/region should have saved a backup of the routines in a mail message using the Backup a Transport Global [XPD BACKUP] menu option (this is done at time of install). The message containing the backed-up routines can be loaded with the "Xtract PackMan" function at the Message Action prompt. The Packman function "INSTALL/CHECK MESSAGE" is then used to install the backed up routines onto the VistA System. If the new backup build option was used, after Xtracting the patch message use the KIDS Installation menu and enter RA*5.0*214b at the INSTALL NAME prompt.
