Authorized HealthCare Provider Procedure for PDMP Query

Authorized Prescribers (with a DEA #) and Pharmacists (with an NPI #) can initiate a PDMP query using their own credentials.

To request a PDMP Query, follow these steps:

1.   From the ribbon bar, click on the PDMP Query button, it will change to PDMP Cancel. The query will run in the background, and the user can continue to work in CPRS while the query is running. After a few seconds, the PDMP Cancel button will change to PDMP Results.

Note: You can also select PDMP from the Tools drop-down menu.

Note: Retrieving the results may take a while as the query searches all 50 states' databases (through a third party PDMP gateway). This process is outside of CPRS’s control.

2.   Click on the PDMP Results button to display the PDMP report. The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Results report displays in a separate window.

Note: If encounter information has not been entered, the encounter information dialog will appear before the PDMP report is displayed. You must complete the encounter information dialog before proceeding.

Note: Retrieving the report may take a while as it must be retrieved through a third party PDMP gateway. This process is outside of CPRS’s control.

The report allows the user to review the PDMP results and to automatically generate a note to document any findings. It has three sections: Demographics, Summary, and Prescriptions. The bottom of the report displays the date of the last PDMP Query (which is the same date as the date previously noted in the hover over Note for  the PDMP Query), Four (4) statement selections, as well as the Cancel Without Update and Done and Create Note buttons.

Note: You must select at least one of the Statements. Clicking the Done and Create Note button without selecting a Statement, will produce the error message: "At least one option should be selected."
