$TXT Created by DEVCRN.DOMAIN.EXT (KIDS) on Friday, 09/05/25 at 10:46 ============================================================================= Run Date: DEC 04, 2025 Designation: DG*5.3*1152 Package : DG - REGISTRATION Priority: Mandatory Version : 5.3 SEQ #1008 Status: Released Compliance Date: JAN 04, 2026 ============================================================================= Associated patches: (v)DG*5.3*820 <<= must be installed BEFORE `DG*5.3*1152' (v)DG*5.3*1020 <<= must be installed BEFORE `DG*5.3*1152' Subject: MASTER VETERAN INDEX VISTA ENHANCEMENT - BULLETIN UPDATES Category: - Routine - Enhancement (Mandatory) Description: ============ DG*5.3*820 and DG*5.3*1020 are the only required builds for patch DG*5.3*1152. In coordination with the Healthcare Identity Management (HC IdM) business office, the Master Patient Index (MPI) has made the following bulletin enhancements below to always display the appropriate "WHO", especially when processed through a Health Level Seven (HL7) inbound message. Enhancement 1 - DATE OF DEATH BULLETIN The Date of Death Bulletin is triggered when the date of death has been added, changed or removed. Unfortunately, that update coming through HL7 messaging could cause confusion/contention as the individuals reviewing the bulletin details may not understand that the specific person shown on the "LAST EDITED BY:" line isn't actually the individual who performed the edit, but in this case, they are just the one who started the HL7 inbound filers. To provide better clarity in this bulletin, MPI has modified the routine DGDEATH to now display on the "LAST EDITED BY:" line either the individual who performed the edit or if the update came through HL7 messaging then one of the following messages: - HL7 message ADT-A31 - HL7 message ADT-A31 From VA MPI Primary View NOTE: The Message/Event type displayed (ie. ADT-A31) will reflect the actual values passed in the HL7 message. Enhancement 2 - NAME AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER (SSN) CHANGE BULLETIN The Name and SSN change bulletins are triggered when the Name and/or SSN value has been modified. Currently these change bulletins don't contain a line of "who" actually performed these updates. So, if the audit log is then subsequently checked via FileMan (FM) to determine the individual who performed the edit, it could cause confusion/contention as the individual reviewing the log may not understand that in some cases when the update comes through HL7 messaging that the specific person shown in the audit log won't actually be the individual who performed the update, as they are just the one who started the HL7 inbound filers. To provide better clarity in these bulletins, MPI has modified the routine DGPATN to now include the following additional line on the display, which will indicate the individual or process that performed the update. NAME Bulletin: Name Changed By: <> SSN Bulletin: SSN Changed By: <> Note: <> will contain either the actual name of the user or if the update came through HL7 messaging then one of the following messages: - HL7 message ADT-A31 - HL7 message ADT-A31 From VA MPI Primary View NOTE: The Message/Event type displayed (ie. ADT-A31) will reflect the actual values passed in the HL7 message.
