$TXT Created by DEVCRN.DOMAIN.EXT (KIDS) on Tuesday, 05/05/26 at 15:31 ============================================================================= Run Date: JUL 22, 2026 Designation: DG*5.3*1162 Package : DG - REGISTRATION Priority: Mandatory Version : 5.3 SEQ #1021 Status: Released Compliance Date: AUG 01, 2026 ============================================================================= Associated patches: (v)DG*5.3*1131 <<= must be installed BEFORE `DG*5.3*1162' (v)DG*5.3*1139 <<= must be installed BEFORE `DG*5.3*1162' Subject: MASTER VETERAN INDEX VISTA ENHANCEMENT - PREFERRED NAME Category: - Routine - Enhancement (Mandatory) Description: ============ NOTE: Master Patient Index (MPI) enhancements are being distributed in two VistA namespaces: DG and MPIF. Patches DG*5.3*1162 and MPIF*1.0*81 can be installed in any order as there are no direct dependencies between them requiring a specific install sequence. To prevent legacy systems ending up as Treating Facilities, MPIF* patches should NOT be installed on legacy systems or the FORUM CLAIMS system (since it is NOT a Veterans Affair Medical Center (VAMC) VistA system). DG*5.3*1131 and DG*5.3*1139 are the required builds for patch DG*5.3*1162. The following enhancements exported in this patch were requested by the Healthcare Identity Management (HC IdM) business office to allow Preferred Name to be added through both the Proxy Add Patient process and the Register a Patient menu option when pulling in the patient's information using the enterprise search query. Enhancement #1 It was noted that if Preferred Name was populated on the Veteran Affairs (VA) MPI Primary View and that patient record is created in VistA through the Proxy Add Patient process, that the Preferred Name on the MPI Primary View was being deleted when an update from VistA was sent to MPI as the Preferred Name value was NOT being stored for the record in the PATIENT file (#2). To prevent this unintended deletion of Preferred Name on the MPI, the Proxy Add Patient process will now be enhanced to include the Preferred Name in the payload so that it can be added to the fields populated in VistA when the record is initially created. Enhancement #2 The Enterprise Query Search executed upon the creation of a new patient record through the Register a Patient [DG REGISTER PATIENT] menu option returns the Preferred Name value that is stored in the Administrative Data Repository (ADR) in the Extensible Markup Language (XML) / Service Provisioning Markup Language (SPML) payload. This additional field value will now be stored in the local array (DGF) so that it can be included in the data filed when a new record is created in the PATIENT file (#2). EHRM Impact Statement: ---------------------- - This patch should have no EHRM impact, and can be installed at all sites, including EHRM converted sites.
