The installation of DG*5.3*1067 has resulted in some sites reporting that they no longer see the relationship value within the parenthesis when viewing Patient Inquiry in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). The changes introduced with patch DG*5.3*1067 replaced the previous free text Relationship to Patient field with a new Relation Type field that allows a user to choose from one of 15 standardized values. The existing free text data was "moved" to a new Relation Note field. VistA users will see both of these fields on VistA Registration EMERGENCY CONTACT DATA, SCREEN <3>. In CPRS, this data was shown on the Patient Inquiry button display within parenthesis, next to the name, for the E-Cont:, E-Cont2:, Next of Kin Information:, and Secondary Next of Kin Information:. This is the data that has been reported as missing after installation of the patch. The installation of DG*5.3*1067 places the new Relation Type field value in this same CPRS screen location. However, upon installation of this patch, the value of this new field is NULL (sometimes displayed in VistA as UNANSWERED). An initial "seeding" of data within the VHA Enrollment System (VES) into the new field, based on the value in the old field, was scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2022, the day after completion of the VistA patch compliance period. The reason for the delay is that the VES cannot transmit the new field and values, via HL7-Z05 messaging, until the patch had successfully been installed at all production VistA locations, ensuring that the new field existed in the VistA Patient file (File #2). Once the seeding completes within VES, it may take up to two weeks for all VistA patients to be updated via HL7 messaging nationwide. Beginning the evening of Saturday, February 26, CPRS users will begin to see the relation data return; however, it may take up to two weeks before the data is seen consistently for all patients. As a temporary workaround, users, with the appropriate access rights/keys, may choose one of the following alternative methods to view Relationship information: - View the Relationship Type in VES; - View the Relationship Note (which contains the previous data) in VistA on the Emergency Contact Data, Screen <3> using the View Registration Data [DG REGISTRATION VIEW] option; - Use the VistA Load/Edit Patient Data [DG LOAD PATIENT DATA] option to update the Relation Type to the closest match of the value in Relation Note, which will make the relationship available for viewing in CPRS.
