The following Sexual Orientation enhancements (#1 and #2) requested by the Patient Care Services Business Office and exported in this patch by the Master Veteran Index (MVI) team will modify some entries in the SEXUAL ORIENTATION TYPES (#47.77) file and update the field name of the SEXUAL ORIENTATION DESCRIPTION (#.0251) field in the PATIENT (#2) file. Enhancement #1 The following 'CURRENT' SEXUAL ORIENTATION TYPE (#.01) field entries below in the SEXUAL ORIENTATION TYPES (#47.77) file will be updated with the 'TO BE' value during the post-install process: CURRENT TO BE ------------------------------------------------------------------------ o Another Option, please describe / A sexual orientation not listed here o Choose not to disclose / Prefer not to answer o Lesbian, Gay or Homosexual / Lesbian or Gay NOTE: A corresponding change to the SEXUAL ORIENTATION TYPES (#985.77) file has been made on the MVI system and will be released via patch MPI*1.0*152. Enhancement #2 The Data Dictionary (DD) reference for the SEXUAL ORIENATION DESCRIPTION (#.0251) field name in the PATIENT (#2) file has been updated to SEXUAL ORIENTATION FREE TEXT (See below for updated DD). In addition, the logic associated with the menu option RG EXCEPTION TF INQUIRY in routine VAFCPDAT has been modified to now display to the screen if applicable the 'Sexual Orientation Free Text' label instead of the original 'Sexual Orientation Description' label. 2,.0251 SEXUAL ORIENTATION FREE TEXT .241;1 FREE TEXT (audited) INPUT TRANSFORM: K:$L(X)>255!($L(X)<3) X MAXIMUM LENGTH: 255 LAST EDITED: OCT 17, 2023 HELP-PROMPT: Enter the free text value (3-255 characters) of the specified 'Other' Sexual Orientation associated with the patient. Enhancement #3 The Healthcare Identity Management (HC IdM) business group has been unable to remotely update the Name Components for some patients at a site from the MVI system when the global "NAME" node for that record, which is related to the NAME COMPONENTS (#1.01) field in the PATIENT (#2) file, is NULL, resulting in an error message being returned to the user. Therefore changes have been made to the DGNAME routine associated with the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) [DG UPDATE NAME COMPONENTS] to now recreate the global "NAME" node value using the NAME (#.01) field in the PATIENT (#2) file if it is NULL prior to updating the Name Components for the patient to prevent this type of error from occurring going forward. Furthermore, if the global "NAME" node does exist for the patient, but the pointed to NAME COMPONENTS (#20) file entry does NOT exist, then the NAME COMPONENTS (#20) file entry will be recreated to reestablish the relationship between the records. NOTE: Patch DG*5.3*1107 upon release will create a new option to run the process of running through the patient file and place the appropriate entries into NAME COMPONENTS (File #20) and the PATIENT (File #2), NAME COMPONENTS field (#1.01) for all patients missing this information.
