$TXT Created by THEROUX,JOHN at MNTVBB.FO-ALBANY.MED.VA.GOV (KIDS) on Friday, 10/12/07 at 15:03 ============================================================================= Run Date: APR 10, 2008 Designation: DG*5.3*766 Package : DG - REGISTRATION Priority: Mandatory Version : 5.3 SEQ #687 Status: Released Compliance Date: MAY 11, 2008 ============================================================================= Associated patches: (v)DG*5.3*713 <<= must be installed BEFORE `DG*5.3*766' Subject: CORRECT TWO DATE FIELDS AND RETIRE PATIENT DATA REVIEW Category: - Routine - Other - Data Dictionary Description: ============ This patch addresses the following: - corrects hours and minutes of the 'DATE LAST TREATED' for MPI - requires precise dates for the Confidential Address Start and End dates, CONFIDENTIAL START DATE and CONFIDENTIAL END DATE in the Patient File (#2) - retires the Patient Data Review (PDR) functionality in MPI ASSOCIATED REMEDY TICKETS: ========================== 1) HD 197859 - Erroneous entry for minutes data in DATE LAST TREATED 2) HD 199527 - Problem with entering just month and year for Confidential end date 3) HD 204680 - PHONE NUMBER [RESIDENCE]: HAS AT THE END OF NUMBER ~PRN~PH ASSOCIATED NSRs: ================= N/A PARTICIPATING TEST SITES: ========================= Bay Pines, FL Biloxi, MS Manchester, NH Memphis, TN Upstate, NY REMEDY OVERVIEW: ================ 1) HD 197859 - Erroneous entry for minutes data in DATE LAST TREATED Certain old records in the Outpatient Encounter file (#409.68) have bad data in the DATE field (#.01) where the minutes exceed 59 or the hours exceed 23. This causes an error in MPI when that date is used as the "date last treated". Solution: ========= Routine VAFCTF will be modified to convert the minutes to 59 and the hours to 23 before passing the date as the "date last treated". Note: Only the data passed to the MPI will be changed; no data in VistA files will be changed. 2) HD 199527 - Problem with entering just month and year for Confidential end date Problem: ======== When using the option DG LOAD PATIENT DATA, to update a patient's Confidential Start or End dates, if the user enters the date as just Month and Year, the Patient file (#2) will be updated with a Fileman date of 3071200, which is interpreted as DEC 00, 2007. Such a date is then rejected by the Austin Automation Center (AAC). Solution: ========= The input transform of field #.1417 and .1418 in the Patient file (#2) has been changed to prevent imprecise dates by adding an "X" to the variable %DT. 3) HD204680 - PHONE NUMBER [RESIDENCE]: HAS AT THE END OF NUMBER ~PRN~PH Problem: ======== While processing the IVM UPLOAD, site noted patients in the Patient file (#2) that have ~PRN~PH at the end of the PHONE NUMBER [RESIDENCE] (field #.131). The issue is that the site is getting a PDR to review and accept which has a Phone Number [residence] value difference and from the PDR view it looks fine, however when it is accepted, it is stored with the HL7 message formatting "~PRN~PH" tacked on. Solution: ========= As explained in RG*1.0*49, the Patient Data Review (PDR) functionality is being disabled in the Master Patient Index (MPI) package because Primary View Initialization concluded on September 10. The below options are being marked obsolete by this DG patch: Patient Data Review [VAFC EXCEPTION HANDLER] Purge Patient Data Reviews [VAFC PDR PURGE] The post-init routine DG53P766 will also delete all records from the Patient Data Exception File (#391.98) and from the Patient Data Element File (#391.99). When this patch and RG*1.0*49 have been installed at all sites, an additional patch will be issued that will provide a list of the patient records whose phone numbers need to be reviewed for possible repair. Remedy ticket HD0000000243664 was opened to track this. The repairs will need to be done manually as the field is free text and can also contain characters other than ~PRN~PH,and can contain multiple phone numbers and multiple sets of appended characters. Here is one example of what the data could look like coming in: (###)###-####~PRN~PH|(###)###-####~WPN~PH In this example the PRN number (along with everything else left of the bar) would have been stored. If the PRN number wasn't defined the WPN would then probably get stored in the Home Phone #.
