 This patch is for the Emergency Department Integration Software (EDIS) 
 Java Graphic User Interface (GUI). This patch is being released in 
 response to an issue identified with Bed Management Solution (BMS) 
 following EDP*2.0*35. After release, the EDIS GUI/Web Server version will
 be 2.2.57.
  
 Patch EDP*2.0*38 addresses the following defects:
  
 1) EDIS-1346(INC39277014): Fix Invalid Character Issue for BMS App.

 Problem:
 --------
 An invalid character is saved to the ED LOG file (#230) in Veterans 
 Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) when a user
 presses "Enter" key while entering text in the Complaint, Comments, and
 Long Complaint(optional) text fields in EDIS. When BMS, a downstream 
 application, retrieves the ED LOG file (#230) record, it fails because of 
 the invalid character. 
  
 Resolution:

 Programmatically validate Complaint, Comments, and Long 
 Complaint(optional) text field values and replace such invalid character 
 with space before it is persisted.

 This is a centralized server promotion. No installation is required at

 recommended that it be installed during non-peak hours to minimize
 potential disruption to users. However, no installation is required at
