This patch updates the MUMPS code to complete the changes made in EDP*2*41 and fixes the duplicate encounter issue. Patch EDP*2*42 addresses the following defect: 1) EDIS-1285: INC38814644 - EDIS Vitals saves incorrect time zone. 2) EDIS-1348: INC39251650 - Tracking Code does not update in VistA. 3) EDIS-1459: INC39876676 - EDIS creates duplicate encounters when a historical visit is entered in the Emergency Room (ER) clinic. EHRM Impact Statement: ---------------------- -This patch should have no EHRM impact, and can be installed at all sites, including EHRM converted sites. Problem: -------- When adding vitals to a patient in EDIS the timestamp always displays central time regardless of where the site is located. This is because EDIS currently uses the time zone from the web server which is located in the central time zone. Resolution: ---------- The current time was passed from the web server to VistA using Java's date/time method which would then store that value in VistA. Now the application does not use the Java date/time but instead uses VistA's $$NOW^XLFDT Application Programming Interface (API) call which will provide the time at that selected site. The time zone stamp on the vitals was removed in EDP*2*41 because there is no mechanism currently for EDIS to know what time zone the selected site belongs to. 2) EDIS-1348: INC39251650 - Tracking Code does not update in VistA. Problem: -------- When changing the name of the Status in EDIS under Configure > Selections > Status, the name updates in the Selections page and on the CPE screen. The new name of the Status does not update in the TRACKING CODE file (#233.1). The new name is also not visible in the Configure > Colors page. This appears to be an issue with all tracking codes -- dispositions, delays, etc. Resolution: ----------- When EDIS saves the updates on the Configure page the backend VistA code does not update the TRACKING CODE file. This VistA code has been updated to save changes to the TRACKING CODE file and to display the changes correctly in EDIS for any non-national code. 3) EDIS-1459: INC39876676 - EDIS creates duplicate encounters when a historical visit is entered in the ER clinic. Problem: -------- The site uses a Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) note as a warm hand-off when a patient is coming to the ER from another clinic or hospital location. The CPRS note is created as historical and linked to the ER clinic. This creates a historical encounter in the Patient Care Encounter (PCE) package. The note alerts the ER staff of the incoming patient. Once the patient enters the ER, the ER staff create an appointment for the patient putting the patient on the EDIS board. A nurse is assigned the patient in EDIS. EDIS checks the PCE package for existing encounters and finds the historical encounter. Encounter data (nurse assignment) cannot be added to historical encounters so a new encounter is created by EDPF Tracking System using the same date/time of the encounter. Now there are 2 selectable visits in CPRS, one for the scheduled appt and one for the EDIS created encounter. When users select the correct scheduled appointment and link their notes to it in CPRS, it creates a second encounter with the appt date/time. Resolution: ----------- When EDIS is checking for a previous visit it will now ignore those marked as "historical". This patch should take less than 5 minutes to install. Installation Instructions: 1. Choose the PackMan message containing this build. Then select the INSTALL/CHECK MESSAGE PackMan option to load the build. 2. From the Kernel Installation and Distribution System Menu, select the Installation Menu. From this menu, A. Select the Verify Checksums in Transport Global option to confirm the integrity of the routines that are in the transport global. When prompted for the INSTALL NAME enter the patch EDP*2*42. NOTE: Using will not bring up a Multi-Package build even if it was loaded immediately before this step. It will only bring up the last patch in the build. B. Select the Backup a Transport Global option to create a backup message. You must use this option and specify what to backup; the entire Build or just Routines. The backup message can be used to restore the routines and components of the build to the pre-patch condition. i. At the Installation option menu, select Backup a Transport Global ii. At the Select INSTALL NAME prompt, enter your build EDP*2*42 iii. When prompted for the following, enter "R" for Routines or "B" for Build. Select one of the following: B Build (including Routines) R Routines Only Backup Type: B// iv. When prompted "Do you wish to secure your build? NO//", press and take the default response of "NO". v. When prompted with, "Send mail to: Last name, First Name", press to take default recipient. Add any additional recipients. vi. When prompted with "Select basket to send to: IN//", press and take the default IN mailbox or select a different mailbox. C. You may also select to use the following options: i. Print Transport Global - This option will allow you to view the components of the KIDS build. ii. Compare Transport Global to Current System - This option will allow you to view all changes that will be made when this patch is installed. It compares all of the components of this patch, such as routines, DDs, templates, etc. D. Select the Install Package(s) option and choose the patch to install. i. If prompted 'Want KIDS to Rebuild Menu Trees Upon Completion of Install? NO//', answer . ii. When prompted 'Want KIDS to INHIBIT LOGONs during the install? NO//', answer . iii. When prompted 'Want to DISABLE Scheduled Options, Menu Options, and Protocols? NO//', answer . Post-Installation Instructions: N/A Back-Out/Roll Back Plan: ------------------------ Back-out will be done only with the concurrence and participation of development team and appropriate VA site/region personnel. The decision to back-out or rollback software will be a joint decision between development team, VA site/region personnel and other appropriate VA personnel. Prior to installing an updated KIDS package, the site/region should have saved a backup of the routine in a mail message using the Backup a Transport Global [XPD BACKUP] menu option from the Kernel Installation and Distribution System Menu and selecting the Installation Menu. The back-out plan is to restore the routine from the backup created. The message containing the backed-up routine can be loaded with the "Xtract PackMan" function at the Message Action prompt. The Packman function "INSTALL/CHECK MESSAGE" is then used to install the backed up routine onto the VistA System. If the patch was backed up for the build, from the Kernel Installation and Distribution System Menu, select the Installation Menu. Select the Install Package(s) option and choose the patch (EDP*2*42b) to install.
