Problem: -------- Screen readers such as JAWS were unable to understand the table structure on the EDIS board pages. Column headers were not being associated with their corresponding data cells, making it impossible for assistive technology users to meaningfully navigate or interpret the table content. Additionally, when users navigated table rows using keyboard controls, the focused or selected row was not visually distinguishable from the rest of the table. The default highlight color did not provide sufficient contrast, making it difficult for keyboard-only users and users with low vision to identify which row currently had focus or was selected. Resolution: ----------- A JavaScript-based accessibility fix was added to the main, Big Board, and Waiting modules. The fix corrects how the table is presented to assistive technology so that column headers are properly associated with their data cell and the table can be read and navigated as a single, cohesive structure. Also, the table row highlight and focus styles were updated to display a high-contrast dark blue background with white text for both selected and keyboard-focused rows. This ensures the active row is clearly visible to all users and meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 508 color contrast requirements. 2) EDIS-1340: 508: Address issues with Assign Staff page. Problem: -------- When users navigated table rows using keyboard controls, the focused or selected row was not visually distinguishable from the rest of the table. The default highlight color did not provide sufficient contrast, making it difficult for keyboard-only users and users with low vision to identify which row currently had focus or was selected. Problem: -------- When a user searches for a patient on the Edit Closed visit page, patients whose names were entered as free text (manually typed, not resolved from a Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) patient lookup) in all-lowercase letters are not returned in the search results. Only free-text patients whose names were recorded with standard capitalization are matched. This prevents staff from locating and editing closed visits for lowercase free-text patients via search, requiring them to scroll manually through the full closed visit list to find the record. Resolution: ----------- The patient search on the Edit Closed page has been updated to perform a case-insensitive comparison when matching free-text patient names. Previously, the search was case-sensitive, causing lowercase free-text entries to be skipped. The search now normalizes both the query and the stored free-text name before comparing, so patients entered in any combination of upper or lowercase letters are returned correctly in the results.
