This patch implements functionality related to NSR #20070203 to check active orders when a new allergy is entered and allow a notification to be sent to pre-defined users as well as any user selected recipients. This patch also implements NSR #20120404 to allow historical allergies to be entered with an optional severity and date of occurrence while requiring at least one sign/symptom or a comment of at least four characters. New Service Request (NSR) Overview: ----------------------------------- 1. NSR #20070203 - Allergy Order Check Enhancement Issue ----- When an allergy or adverse reaction has been entered into the system, if the new order includes a medication containing that reactant, the system displays an alert to the provider. However, when an allergy is entered into the record of a patient that has active orders, the system does not have the ability to check the active drug profile to determine if there is a potential drug-allergy interaction with the active orders. Resolution ---------- When a new allergy is entered, order checks will occur against all active medication orders related to the newly entered allergy. When existing active medication orders are found the following changes have been added: - Order check results are displayed. In CPRS, this appears as a new dialog box "Existing Medication Allergy" - A notification is sent to the appropriate providers based on the ORB PROVIDER RECIPIENTS parameter. The notification can also be sent to additional recipients chosen by the user entering the allergy. Processing the notification in CPRS displays the relevant medication order on the Orders tab. In addition, there is a new Pharmacy report named Active Meds With Allergies. This report will display all active medications which have drug-allergy interactions. 2. NSR #20120404 - Adverse Reaction Reporting File Modification Issue ----- There was a request to allow new historical allergy entries to contain a reaction date/time, as well as, a severity. Resolution ---------- When a new allergy is entered, the user may now enter a historical allergy entry with the option to include a reaction date/time and/or a severity. Historical allergies will require at least one sign/symptom and/or a comment of at least four characters before being accepted.
