The remaining patches are being released in the KIDS multi-package build CPRS V32B COMBINED BUILD 1.0. Specifically, this patch introduces the support for New Service Request (NSR) 20100825 - Drug-Allergy Order Check Enhancements and Improved Detail and NSR 20071211 - Changes to Allergy/Pharmacy Packages. The enhancements for NSR 20071211 include: facilitating the addition of local comments on an order check that is based upon remote allergy data; performing allergy order checks at drug selection; and separating allergy order checks from other order checks. The updates for NSR 20100825 include: CPRS order checks will include Nature of Reaction identifiers which are displayed as "Allergy", "Adverse Reaction" (i.e. pharmacological), or "Unknown"; and order checks will display adverse reactions to multi-ingredient products. In backdoor order entry, the allergy order checks will not display the Nature of Reaction. Drug-allergy order checks show all ingredients and the drug class associated with the entry in the allergy file, so that the ordering clinician can make a better-informed decision of whether to continue the prescription/order being placed. Also, in both CPRS and VistA, an allergy/ADR order check now displays the following: signs and symptoms entered from remote facilities; severity of observed and historical allergies; and - when displaying an order check -- the site name of where the remote allergy was documented. NSR #20071211 Changes to Allergy/Pharmacy Packages This request has identified several areas related to allergy notifications and allergy alerts triggered during the medication order process that will work toward eliminating the potential for patient allergy information being overlooked by clinical staff. Most notably allergy order checks will occur at drug selection, and allergy order checks will be separated from other order checks when displayed together. Also, comments are now required when overriding order checks, and local comments may be entered on remote allergy data.
