 This is an INFORMATIONAL patch that includes instructions to
 manually enter "CMS" as a MEDICARE PAYER (#51.25) in the IB SITE 
 PARAMETERS file (#350.9) via FileMan.  There are no routines 
 or KIDs builds.  You must follow the instructions in order to 
 set this up correctly.

 The eBusiness Solutions, eInsurance and Financial Services Center (FSC) 
 teams have succeeded in directly connecting into the Medicare database in 
 order to verify Medicare coverage.  This connection will save the 
 Department of Veterans Affairs almost $1 million dollars per year 
 in transaction fees currently paid to private sector clearinghouses.  
 By changing one parameter in each VistA system, additional money will be 
 saved in labor costs.  This parameter enables the system to auto-update the 
 patient insurance file which eliminates the need for staff to manually
 verify this coverage.  Unfortunately, this IB parameter can only be
 changed by IRM staff.

 The eInsurance team has requested the IB SITE PARAMATER file (#350.9) be
 updated with a value of "CMS" for the MEDICARE PAYER (#51.25) field. 
     
 Resolution:

 Provide instructions to add "CMS" to the MEDICARE PAYER (#51.25) field 
 via FileMan including all necessary fields.

 NOTE:  The CMS entry is already in the Payer (#365.12) file in your
 Production/Live Account since it was automatically sent by FSC.  It 
 may not be in the file in a Test/Mirror account.

 This update to the IB SITE PARAMETERS can be done at any time.
  
 Use VA FileMan to update the MEDICARE PAYER (#51.25) field. The following
 text describes the steps needed to properly update the entry.

 the entry again and confirming the value has been updated.
