This problem stems from a nine-digit ZIP being placed into a five-digit ZIP code field for the NOK. The resolution described below will solve this issue. The problem occurs on the EMERGENCY CONTACT DATA, SCREEN <3> screen in VistA. When copying the NOK (Next Of Kin) [1] data group into the E-Cont (Emergency Contact) [3] and Designee [5] data groups, the PATIENT file (#2) fields K-PHONE: (#.219) and K-WORK PHONE: (#.21011) do not copy to their corresponding fields in the PATIENT file (#2): - E-PHONE (#.339) - E-WORK PHONE (#.33011) - D-PHONE (#.349) - D-WORK PHONE (#.34011) This issue occurs when a nine-digit ZIP code is placed into the five-digit K-ZIP CODE field (#.218) or K2-ZIP CODE field (#.2198) when obtained from the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Enrollment System (VES) Z05 HL7 data located in the ZCT segment. Resolution: ----------- This solution addresses both SNOW tickets. Routine IVMLDEM6 is modified to handle the Z05 messages with ZIP code values greater than five digits. If the incoming ZIP value is greater than five digits, the value will be stored in the corresponding ZIP+4 field. If the value is five digits, the value will be stored in the original ZIP field. Below is a list of the five-digit fields with their corresponding nine-digit fields.
