Defect (IMAG-71) Display 6000 Overlay. Problem: -------- The Joint Legacy Viewer / Joint Longitudinal Viewer (JLV) and the VIX Viewer did not display 6000 overlays present in some Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) files. Resolution: ----------- 6000 overlays that appear in a DICOM file in (60xx,xxxx) tags, can now be shown or hidden in the Overlay main toolbar icon in JLV and the VIX Viewer. 2. Enhancement (IMAG-4452) Support Receiving and Sending Secure Token Service (STS) Token with the VIX Viewer. Problem: -------- The VIX Viewer Uniform Resource Locator (URL) did not support long security tokens such as ones with STS. Resolution: ----------- The VIX Installer Wizard now modifies the Windows registry to allow for longer URLs for VIX Viewer requests. Receiving and sending STS tokens are now supported with the VIX Viewer. 3. Enhancement (IMAG-4393) Installation and configuration changes and improvements. A. The current installer should not install if another VIX Installer Wizard is present. Problem: -------- It was possible to have multiple VIX Installer Wizards installed on the same server potentially causing problems with the VIX install. Resolution: ----------- Now the VIX Installer does not proceed if another VIX Installer Wizard is installed and if this occurs, an error message appears informing the user to uninstall the other Installer Wizard(s). B. Uninstall and remove the ListenerTool. Problem: -------- The ListenerTool listening on port 9200 was no longer used but was installed with the VIX install.$0 Resolution: ----------- Now the VIX Installer uninstalls the ListenerTool. Further, the ListenerTool is not installed during installation. C. Relocate VIX related Java Archive (JAR) Files. Problem: -------- Java library dependencies were split between two directories, and it was possible to have file handles left open to them during installations which could cause interruptions. Resolution: ----------- Now the VIX Installer places and updates the VIX to use Java library dependencies only within the Tomcat installation folder. D. Update the Specify the MUSE or MUSE NX Configuration window to require confirmation. Problem: -------- The VIX Installer Specify the MUSE or MUSE NX Configuration window allowed an installation to continue when the MUSE Configuration file (MuseDataSource-1.0.config) had been edited manually. This caused re-installations to potentially have wrong settings in the MUSE configuration file. Resolution: ----------- Now the VIX Installer Specify the MUSE or MUSE NX Configuration window requires confirmation if the MUSE Configuration file (MuseDataSource-1.0.config) was manually edited. E. Detach mapped drives. Problem: -------- Mapped drives may cause account lockouts. Resolution: ----------- Modified the nightly restart script to detach any mapped drives to reduce the occurrence of account lockouts. F. Update VIX Installer to include latest default certificate. Problem: -------- The separate zip file of certificates required by the VIX Installer (this zip file contains federation.keystore and federation.truststore) had expired. Resolution: ----------- Now the VIX Installer includes the latest default certificate zip file (federation.zip). 4. Enhancement (IMAG-4438) Directly serve TIFFs as Portable Document Format files (PDFs) from the VIX Viewer. Problem: -------- Until now, TIFF images were not included in the servePDF web Application Programming Interface (API) call. Resolution: ----------- The servePdf web API introduced in MAG*3.0*348 for scanned documents [document (DOC), PDF, Rich Text Format (RTF), and Text (TXT) documents] now includes TIFF images converted to PDFs [servePdf is documented in https://FQDN:343/vix/viewer/VVSDoc#servePdf, where the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) is the VIX server name]. When a consumer calls thestudydetails web API with the IncludeImageDetails=true URL parameter, the results may include a pdfUrl for the study. The pdfUrl contains the URL the consumer can call to retrieve the PDF. If the study has one or more TIFF images, its converted PDF is now included in the served PDF file. 5. Defect (IMAG-4454, INC28077026) Index out of bounds exception occurs with short descriptions containing "]" . Problem: -------- When VistA returns a short description containing a "]" character, it causes an index out of bounds exception. Resolution: ----------- Now the length of altExamNumber is checked which prevents an index out of bounds excepting when VistA returns a short description containing a "]" character. 6. Enhancement (IMAG-4455) Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Service Class Provider (SCP) Improvements. A. Improved logging for DICOM SCP data transfer. Problem: -------- DICOM SCP fast data transfer did not produce meaningful transaction logs that were captured and easily exposed. Resolution: ----------- Now DICOM SCP fast data transfer logs are captured, exposed, and provide meaningful transaction logging information. B. Generated reports from VistA headers should match DICOM instances. Problem: -------- Sometimes VIX-generated DICOM structured Reports (SRs) and Secondary Captures (SCs) radiology reports' headers do not match the corresponding headers in the DICOM files of the study.$0 Resolution: ----------- VIX-generated DICOM SRs/SCs now source their DICOM headers from a DICOM file in the study, if available and configured to do so. A configurable parameter isGenRptFromImage in ScpConfiguration.Config allows referencing the first downloaded DICOM image for certain headers instead of the equivalent data in VistA for the report. C. Increase performance of multiple C-STORE operations. Problem: -------- C-STORE operations involving multiple files can be time-consuming due to sequential transfer. Resolution: ----------- C-STORE operations can now be performed in parallel for faster performance. D. Allow specific devices to receive remote patient resolution through DICOM SCP. Problem: -------- The remote patient resolution setting (remotePatientResolution) in the ScpConfiguration file was previously applied to all calling devices. Resolution: ----------- The remote patient resolution can now be set for each specific calling device. The old configuration property is left in place for backward compatibility and any VIX that was set to allow remote patient resolution will have that setting migrated to the device level for all existing devices. E. DICOM SCP handles 2005.6* studies with no corresponding 2005 file entries. Problem: -------- DICOM SCP did not return studies that exclusively contained P34/2005.6* images in C-FIND results. Resolution: ----------- DICOM SCP now returns studies that exclusively contain 2005.6* images in C-FIND and subsequent C-MOVE results. E. DICOM SCP recognizes all patient identifiers for a patient after serving data for that patient. Problem: -------- DICOM SCP on CVIX can serve queries for Electronic Data Interchange Personal Identifiers (EDIPIs) and Internal Control Numbers (ICNs) that are not known to Station 200. The image files returned to C-MOVE queries contain Social Security Numbers (SSNs) as the patient identifier. If the device receiving those images attempts to query for verification using a SSN, the DICOM SCP on CVIX will not know the patient identifier and respond with an empty C-FIND response. Resolution: ----------- When generating a report, C/VIX now adds the patient identifier from the DICOM file used to source the headers for the report to its list of known patient identifiers. 7. Enhancement (IMAG-4459) Improve filter by specialization for non-radiology DICOM modalities. Problem: -------- The previous releases provided limited support for the study specialty filters for the non-radiology specialties in study REST API POSTs. Resolution: ----------- Now the specialty description study metadata is also included as part of the criteria for the study specialty filters. Added initial set of specialization mappings defined in the configuration file (DicomCategoryFilterConfiguration.config) used for non-radiology DICOM modalities specifically DENTISTRY in cl_dental, EYE CARE, OPHTHAMOLOGY, and OPTOMETRY in cl_eyecare, VASCULAR and PULMONARY in cl_cardiology, and DERMATOLOGY in cl_dermatology. 8. Enhancement (IMAG-3298, INC09205564) Support complex DICOM files in the Viewer. Problem: -------- The VIX Viewer previously did not accurately convert some DICOM Pixel Data (binary image data) to comprehensible HTML5 images. CT (Computerized Tomography) images are commonly viewed at a specific window level to see a particular image feature. Window Width (WW) is DICOM tag (0028, 1050) and Window Center (WC) is DICOM tag (0028, 1051). The DICOM operator usually sets the optimal WW/WC values, known as the default values, that best display the image. The WW/WC dropdown menu offers the following items: Default, Abdomen, Bone, Brain, Head/Neck, Lung, and Customize. As a result, of the VIX Viewer not accurately converting some DICOM Pixel Data, some images when using the WW/WC menu's Lung item did not display correctly from the lung's perspective. Resolution: ----------- The VIX Viewer now supports signed and unsigned data for 8-BPP (bits per pixel) and 16-BPP. The BPP is in the Bits Allocated DICOM Tag (0028, 0100). The signage is in the Pixel Representation DICOM Tag (0028,0103). Now the VIX Viewer correctly displays images at a specific window level when using the WW/WC menu's Default item with default WW/WC tag values and when selecting a different item from the WW/WC dropdown menu (such as Lung, to see a CT from the lung's perspective). 9. Enhancement (IMAG-4343, INC25648207 and IMAG-4344, INC27044816) Fix toolbar icons, page resize, and study level layout in the VIX Viewer. A. Fix toolbar icons, page resize, and study level layout in the VIX Viewer. Problem: -------- The refresh main toolbar icon and page resize in the VIX Viewer did not work correctly. Further, the study level layout displayed as x undefined. Resolution: ----------- Now the refresh main toolbar icon and the page resizing in the VIX Viewer works as expected. Further, now the study level layout displays correctly (i.e., as 1 x 1, 2 x 2, or 3 x 3). B. Fix dead thumbnail in C/VIX Image Viewer. Problem: -------- Sometimes the thumbnail would not display its associated image in the viewport. Resolution: ----------- Now the thumbnail displays its associated image in the viewport.$0 10. Enhancement (IMAG-4462) Incorporate Office of Connected Care changes. Problem: -------- The Office of Connected Care (OCC) provided code based on the MAG*3.0*230 patch containing changes for performance, including caching of VistA RPC results, adjustments to byte buffer sizes, and file system changes for potentially faster retrieval of files over networks. Resolution: ----------- The provided code has been reviewed and compared against the most recent VIX/CVIX codebase and selectively merged into MAG*3.0*358. 11. Enhancement (IMAG-4450) Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) package updates for VA Technical Reference Manual (TRM) compliance. Problem: -------- COTS packages required an upgrade in accordance with the TRM. In addition, the VIX Installer did not force the Visual C++ Redistributable to upgrade to version 2015-2022. Resolution: ----------- Now the VIX Installer has a pre-requisite of the Visual C++ Redistributable which ensures the latest supported version (currently 2015-2022) is installed. The Java version in MAG*3.0*348 was 8u371 and upgraded to 8u421 in accordance with the TRM. The Apache Tomcat version in MAG*3.0*348 was 9.0.75 and upgraded to 9.0.89 in accordance with the TRM. The LibreOffice version in MAG*3.0*348 was 7.3.5 and upgraded to 24.2.5 in accordance with the TRM. The PowerShell version in MAG*3.0*348 was 7.2.4 and upgraded to 7.3.9 in accordance with the TRM. The Log4j version in MAG*3.0*348 was 2.20.0 and upgraded to 2.21.1 in accordance with the TRM. 12. Enhancement (IMAG-4466) Convert Occupational Therapy (OT) and Ophthalmic Photography (OP) DICOM modality images to PDF or JPEG to improve display performance. Problem: -------- The display of DICOM OT and OP modality images in the VIX Viewer was slow. Resolution: ----------- Now the Viewer converts OT and OP DICOM modality images to: 1) PDF for embedded PDFs; and 2) JPEG for others. This improves display performance in the VIX Viewer. 13. Defect (IMAG-4468) VIX sometimes cannot parse image records from VistA. Problem: -------- VistA has some partial data for some images that may have been caused by a loading defect. For these studies, no images load in the VIX/CVIX. Resolution: ----------- Now the VIX/CVIX excludes these records that fail to load and now record an error in the transaction log. Now these studies have some images that load in the VIX/CVIX. 14. Enhancement (IMAG-4469) Ensure all requests include a source-system name. Problem: -------- Users can have difficulty tracing requests to their origin. Resolution: ----------- A Tomcat filter ensures a source-system name ("xxx-appName" ) is available as an HTTP header and is supplied a default value when absent: "vixviewer" for ViewerStudyWebApp and "clinicaldisplay" for ClinicalDisplayWebApp. 15. Enhancement (IMAG-4361, INC26577774) Update VIX Viewer to display asterisks when measurement values are missing in Electrocardiograms (ECGs) /(EKGs). Problem: -------- Cerner's Millennium product and users use an asterisk to signify missing measurement values in DICOM ECGs/EKGs. The VIX Viewer used 0 and 999 for those values which confused some users. Resolution: ----------- Now the VIX Viewer uses an asterisk for missing measurement values in DICOM ECGs/EKGs. It also fixes the "BMP" label in these files by replacing it with "BPM". These changes do not apply to PDF or JPEG ECGs/EKGs. 16. Defect (IMAG-4471, INC29329344) Support Enterprise Clinical Imaging Archive (ECIA) queries using Electronic Data Interchange Personal Identifier (EDIPI) instead of Integration Control Number (ICN) for station 200. Problem: -------- When JLV users query for studies using an EDIPI identifier, CVIX was attempting to convert the provided identifier unnecessarily when querying ECIA. Resolution: ----------- Now the CVIX checks for an EDIPI: prefix in the patient identifier to determine if conversion is necessary when querying ECIA for station 200 only. 17. Enhancement (IMAG-4513) Support Patch 34 Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Classes served by VIX study REST services and DICOM SCP. Problem: -------- Support for DICOM images with certain SOP classes were introduced in MAG*3.0*34 (P34). This support was not rolled forward into current patch releases, causing errors and the inability to send and display the images. Resolution: ----------- Now the P34 SOP class images can be retrieved through the VIX study REST services and DICOM SCP (also known as the query/retrieve feature). A new configuration parameter, (useP34 that defaults to true) in ScpConfiguration.Config, enables support for P34 SOP class images. As this support uses the legacy command system, no VIX tokens are necessary to authenticate the request for data. As a result of these changes, Commercial PACS that call the VIX can retrieve P34 SOP class images. 18. Enhancement (IMAG-4492) Remove VixCache webapp. Problem: -------- The VIX Cache Web App was infrequently used and exposed a file system security vulnerability. Resolution: ----------- The VIX Cache Web App and references have been removed. Now the VIX Cache Manager is not listed on the VIX Tools Page. 19. Enhancement (IMAG-4500) Increase Performance for Department of Defense (DoD) studies with concurrent C-FINDs to Enterprise Clinical Imaging Archive (ECIA). Problem: -------- During peak business hours, querying CVIX for complete metadata for studies with more than 1,000 images can take over two minutes. Further, during these hours, querying CVIX for study lists for patients with many single image studies can take over two minutes causing Clinical Display or ISI Rad users to not receive any DoD data. Resolution: ----------- To improve performance, CVIX now queries ECIA with concurrent C-FINDs for each series in a study and each single image study in a patient's record. 20. Enhancement (IMAG-4507) Support VIX Transport Layer Encryption with Server Message Block (SMB). Problem: -------- Java Common Internet File System (JCIFS) does not support Server Message Block (SMB) 3 protocol or SMB 2 upgrade negotiation required for transport layer SMB encryption. VIX traffic to image shares needed to be upgraded to support transport layer SMB encryption. Resolution: ----------- Now the VIX supports transport layer SMB encryption, using the Server Message Block - Java (SMBJ) library. 21. Enhancement (IMAG-4508) Filter VA documents from Data Access Service (DAS)/Data Exchange Service (DES). Problem: -------- Requests to C/VIX for DAS/DES data returned VA documents which were duplicates of documents returned from other sites and sources (such as VistA). Resolution: ----------- VA documents are now filtered from DAS/DES requests and reliably identified. The CVIX configuration file DxDataSourceConfiguration-1.0.config, now includes an excludeVADocs parameter, which defaults to true. 22. Enhancement (IMAG-4517) Image display with trace-logging in the VIX Viewer. Problem: -------- When trace-logging was enabled, the VIX Viewer was unable to display images and could not log HTTP requests and responses. Resolution: ----------- The VIX Viewer now displays images and logs HTTP requests and responses when trace-logging is enabled. The VIX Viewer and Render code was updated to reduce the number of HTTP bytes read and restrict the NancyFX pipeline to a single initialization. 23. Defect (IMAG-4516) Include MUSE artifacts in query results for the "all" resultType filter. Problem: -------- When querying the study restservices for studies using a studyFilter/resultType element, MUSE artifacts were excluded with the "all" resultType filter. Resolution: ----------- Now the "all" resultType filter includes MUSE artifacts. 24. Enhancement (IMAG-4521) Support specialty PACS enterprise DICOM query/retrieve (QR) workflows. Problem: -------- Supporting specialty PACS requires robust handling at the lower levels of SERIES and IMAGE C-FINDs and C-MOVEs. Resolution: ----------- Improved support for C-FINDs at the SERIES and IMAGE level and enabled C-MOVE processing at the SERIES and IMAGE level. Now DICOM Q/R supports non-radiology medical devices and specialty PACS such as dental and ophthalmology. The ScpConfiguration.Config file now supports a list of Service-Object Pair (SOP) class unique identifiers (UIDs) that are not sent when processing C-MOVEs for corresponding studies with DICOM files of the specified type. Added propagation of SOP Class UID from CVIX's ECIA-consuming interface through Federation to downstream clients including the DICOM SCP. Modified DICOM SCP handling of STUDY level and below queries for instance UIDs to generate the VistA Report Object and include its Series and Instance UIDs in the C-FIND responses. Note: Cerner data will require a modification to CCIA to propagate the SOP Class UID for DICOM files. 25. Defect (IMAG-4523) STS login method sets application context. Problem: -------- After authenticating with VistA using STS tokens, subsequent RPC calls would return an error stating "Application context has not been created", indicating the application context was not set during initial authentication. Resolution: ----------- After authenticating via STS, the system now sets the VistA connection context via the "XWB CREATE CONTEXT" RPC. 26. Defect (IMAG-4526) Consolidated TIU endpoint contains desired fields from Ingest endpoint and does not require typeIndex. Problem: -------- The consolidated TIU endpoint was missing fields present in the existing Ingest endpoints and required the typeIndex field to be populated, which was not desired. Resolution Note: --------------- Incident was addressed in MAG*3.0.367 for CVIX that did not include an MSI and carried forward into the MAG*3.0.358 release. Resolution: ----------- The consolidated TIU endpoint now adds the specialtyIndex, procedure, and procedureEventIndex fields and no longer requires the typeIndex field. 27. Defect (IMAG-4525) An unresponsive or misconfigured MUSE no longer causes VIX to become unresponsive. Problem: ----------- When the MUSE is misconfigured or unresponsive, VIX threads could be exhausted waiting for a MUSE response, which could cause the VIX to become unresponsive. Resolution: ----------- Now an intermediary thread pool for the MUSE handles all HTTP requests to the MUSE, and if this thread pool is exhausted, the VIX will not return MUSE data but continue to operate normally. Further the VIX now queries the MUSE only once per incoming request that requires MUSE data. 28. Defect (IMAG-4528) Preserve MUSE studyIds over Federation services. Problem: ----------- Studies received from MUSE over Federation services would often have their studyId rewritten to vastudy. Resolution: ----------- MUSE studyIds are now preserved over Federation services, and as a result, MUSE studies can now be viewed from a remote VIX instead of on the VIX closest to the MUSE study. 29. Defect (IMAG-4842) Improve response times retrieving the work list using Importer. Problem: ----------- The larger the DICOM correct work list is at a site, the longer the response times are from the VIX when retrieving that work list using the DICOM Importer. The response times degrade and in production can exceed 15 minutes for a single HTTP response. Resolution: ----------- Response times for retrieving the DICOM Correct work list now no longer degrades with usage when there are a large number of items in the list. Now the response times from the VIX when retrieving that work list using the DICOM Importer are expected to be under 20 seconds in the vast majority of cases. 30. Defect (IMAG-4941) DAS returns 406 for all DoD Document requests. Problem: ----------- CVIX cannot retrieve DoD Documents from DAS/DES/HAIMS. DAS responds with a 406 - Not Acceptable HTTP error status for every request. Resolution: ----------- CVIX will now send requests for DoD Documents with an Accept header of */*, allowing DAS to return any file type rather than explicitly requesting a binary file stream. 31. Defect (IMAG-5026) Add RAD OT (other) and RAD DOC to filter defaults. Problem: ----------- Users receiving radiology studies were not seeing RAD OT (other) and RAD DOC DICOM images and artifacts. Resolution: ----------- RAD OT (other) and RAD DOC are now included in the cl_radiology specialization study filter and in the DICOM procedure filter terms. Now when querying radiology studies, users receive RAD OT (other) and RAD DOC DICOM images and artifacts. Test Sites: ----------- * Alexandria VAMC * Philadelphia VAMC * VA Pacific Islands Health Care System * VA North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health Care System Test Sites - ServiceNow (SNOW) Change Order # for VistA: * Change Order numbers for VistA are not needed as this patch does not include a VistA component.
