This document describes MAG*3.0*392, an emergency patch that involves the
HDIG application's underlying infrastructure to address memory leak
issues during Query/Retrieve (Q/R) requests and while processing DICOM
Correct work items.
Defects:

1. INC30334668, INC31326594, INC36490569 - VISTAIS-4168 - After installing
patch 345 (INC30334668, INC31326594) or patch 357 (INC36490569), Tomcat
service keeps stopping on servers that service Q/R requests and
processes DICOM Correct work items.

After installing patch 345 (INC30334668, INC31326594) or patch 357
(INC36490569), Tomcat service keeps stopping on servers that service Q/R
requests and processes DICOM Correct work items.
Resolution:

1. Updated the java code in HDIG so that the allocated memory is released
after use.
2. Added new element in the C:\VixConfig\DicomServerConfiguration.config
file. Value is based on the amount of server memory.

Installing and Updating the HDIG:
---------------------------------
For installing or updating the HDIG, refer to the Hybrid DICOM
Image Gateway (HDIG) Installation Guide.
Post-Installation Instructions:
-------------------------------
1. Update the log4j2.xml configuration to support high-volume Q/R
processing HDIG servers.
Please follow the steps below to update the logging configuration for the
HDIG application.
1. Navigate to C:\VixConfig and locate the log4j2.xml file.
2. Create a backup copy of the file.
3. Open log4j2.xml in a text editor.
4. Update the gov.va.med.imaging.vistaimagingdatasource logger
configuration to the following:

6. Restart the Tomcat service.

It is recommended to set up a Task Scheduler to restart the HDIG servers
running Q/R every 24 hours to maintain performance and stability.
