MPIF*1.0*41, MPIF*1.0*48, MPIF*1.0*52, MPIF*1.0*56, MPIF*1.0*58, MPIF*1.0*59 and DG*5.3*902 are required builds for patch MPIF*1.0*60. NOTE: Master Patient Index (MPI) enhancements are being distributed in three VistA namespaces: DG, RG and MPIF. DG*5.3*902 is required to be installed prior to installing MPIF*1.0*60, as the new ICN fields that are being exported in that patch will be populated during the post install processing of this patch. Once DG*5.3*902 has been installed, patches RG*1.0*62 and MPIF*1.0*60 can be installed in any order. Issue #1 Enhancements were made to several routines (MPIFAPI, MPIFAPI1, MPIF001, MPIF002, MPIFBT3, MPIFQ0) to provide the ability for the Master Patient Index (MPI) internal processes to retrieve and update (/populate) the FULL ICN (#991.1) field in the PATIENT (#2) file. This is the initial step in replacing the existing separate Integration Control Number (ICN) fields (Ie. INTEGRATION CONTROL NUMBER (#991.01) and ICN CHECKSUM (#991.02)) with a single field. The post-init routine MPIFP60 will initially seed the new FULL ICN (#991.1) and FULL ICN HISTORY (#991.91) fields, with the INTEGRATION CONTROL NUMBER (#991.01) and ICN CHECKSUM (#991.02) of existing patient records in the PATIENT (#2) file that have been assigned a National ICN value. Issue #2 Modifications were made to the Admissions, Discharges and Transfers (ADT) A31 Health Level Seven (HL7) message builder code in routine MPIFA31B to support the new Date of Death requirements to the MPI. DEATH ENTERED BY (#.352), SOURCE OF NOTIFICATION (#.353), DATE OF DEATH LAST UPDATED (#.354) and LAST EDITED BY (#.355) fields from the PATIENT (#2) file will be added to the OBX message segment of the ADT-A31 HL7 message. Additional Date of Death supporting code will be exported in patches DG*5.3*902 and RG*1.0*62. The preferred method is to FTP the files from the ANONYMOUS.SOFTWARE directory at: ftp://download.vista.domain.ext/. This transmits the files from the first available FTP server. Sites may also elect to retrieve software directly from a specific server as follows: Albany ftp.domain.ext Hines ftp.domain.ext Salt Lake City ftp.domain.ext Documentation can also be found on the VA Software Documentation Library at: http://www4.domain.ext/vdl/application.asp?appid=16 Title File Name FTP Mode ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Programmer Manual RG1_0_P62PM.PDF (binary) User Manual RG1_0_P62UM.PDF (binary) Technical Manual RG1_0_P62TM.PDF (binary) Patch Installation: Pre/Post Installation Overview ------------------------------ The post-init routine MPIFP60 will populate the FULL ICN (#991.1) field and the FULL ICN HISTORY (#991.91) multiple from the existing patients in the PATIENT (#2) file that have a national ICN value. These new fields were exported in patch DG*5.3*902. The Post-Install process will be automatically tasked to run in the background, as the run-time will vary based on the number of records contained in the PATIENT (#2) file, but could run an hour or more at the larger sites. The Post-Install routine MPIFP60 can be deleted after the task has completed. Note: No additional message traffic will be created due to the seeding of the FULL ICN field (#991.1) and FULL ICN HISTORY multiple (#991.91). This is just a local population within the site's PATIENT File (#2). Installation Instructions ------------------------- This patch may be installed with users on the system although it is recommended that it be installed during non-peak hours to minimize potential disruption to users. This patch should take less than 5 minutes to install. The following OPTIONS should be disabled during installation: Register a Patient [DG REGISTER PATIENT] Load/Edit Patient Data [DG LOAD PATIENT DATA] Electronic 10-10EZ Processing [EAS EZ 1010EZ PROCESSING] Preregister a Patient [DGPRE PRE-REGISTER OPTION] UPDATE BATCH JOB FOR HL7 v2.3 [VAFC BATCH UPDATE] MPI/PD Patient Admin Coordinator Menu [RG ADMIN COORD MENU] Pre-Installation Instructions ----------------------------- The HL7 incoming filers should be stopped. Use the Monitor, Start, Stop Filers [HL FILER MONITOR] option on the Filer and Link Management Options [HL MENU FILER LINK MGT] menu on the HL7 Main Menu [HL MAIN MENU]. 1. Choose the PackMan message containing this patch. 2. Choose the INSTALL/CHECK MESSAGE PackMan option. 3. From the Kernel Installation and Distribution System Menu, select the Installation Menu. From this menu, you may elect to use the following options. When prompted for the INSTALL enter the patch number (i.e. MPIF*1.0*60): a. Backup a Transport Global - This option will create a backup message of any routines exported with this patch. It will not backup any other changes such as DDs or templates. b. Compare Transport Global to Current System - This option will allow you to view all changes that will be made when this patch is installed. It compares all components of this patch (routines, DDs, templates, etc.). c. Verify Checksums in Transport Global - This option will allow you to ensure the integrity of the routines that are in the transport global. 4. From the Installation Menu, select the Install Package(s) option and choose the patch to install. 5. When prompted 'Want KIDS to Rebuild Menu Trees Upon Completion of Install? NO//', respond as per your facility's policy. If you choose to answer YES, then at the end of the patch installation, KIDS will rebuild the menus which may take several hours and could disrupt CPRS users. If your facility has the XQBUILDTREEQUE nightly batch job tasked to run, answer NO to this question. The nightly job will rebuild the menus as scheduled. 6. When prompted 'Want KIDS to INHIBIT LOGONs during the install? NO//', respond NO. 7. When prompted 'Want to DISABLE Scheduled Options, Menu Options, and Protocols? NO// respond YES. The following OPTIONS should be disabled during the installation. Register a Patient [DG REGISTER PATIENT] Load/Edit Patient Data [DG LOAD PATIENT DATA] Electronic 10-10EZ Processing [EAS EZ 1010EZ PROCESSING] Preregister a Patient [DGPRE PRE-REGISTER OPTION] UPDATE BATCH JOB FOR HL7 v2.3 [VAFC BATCH UPDATE] MPI/PD Patient Admin Coordinator Menu [RG ADMIN COORD MENU] 8. If prompted "Delay Install (Minutes): (0 - 60): 0// respond 0. Post-Installation Instructions ------------------------------ After patch installation has completed, restart the HL7 incoming filers. Use the Monitor, Start, Stop Filers [HL FILER MONITOR] option on the Filer and Link Management Options [HL MENU FILER LINK MGT] menu on the HL7 Main Menu [HL MAIN MENU]. The post-install will automatically be tasked to run in the background. The routine MPIFP60 can be deleted once the task "MPI/PD - Populate new Full ICN fields" has run to completion. In addition, the user who installed this patch will be notified via a mailman message when that process has been completed.
