After the national release of CPRS v30.B an issue was identified when an Inpatient Medication or Inpatient Infusion order is edited while the encounter location is set to a Clinic location identified in scheduling as an "IMO" clinic, the order will disappear from the BCMA Virtual Due list. I9134388FY16: Med Error - No Warning to Provider when CHANGING Inpatient Med Error R9908620FY16: Patient Safety Issue Problem: -------- The provider changed the encounter location while working on the chart for an admitted patient. The location selected was set up in Scheduling to allow the administration of inpatient medications (IMO). The provider then selected an Inpatient Medication order and chose the 'Change' action. When the edit of the order was completed, the order was left in the Unit Dose Medications display group, but sent to Pharmacy as a Clinic Medications order. This meant the order disappeared from the Inpatient view of the BCMA Virtual Due List. Resolution: ---------- The interim solution will be to add a hard stop on the change action so that if the location is set to a clinic "IMO" location, the provider will not be allowed to edit an Inpatient Medication or Infusion order. The long-term solution will be determined by a workgroup. In the event of a major issue with the patch, the Facility CIO may make the decision to back-out the patch. However, this decision should include both Health Product Support and the CPRS development team. The back-out plan is to restore the routine from the backup created. If this is required, the site can verify the back-out was successful by verifying that the checksum matches the pre-patch checksum from the patch description. No data was modified by this patch installation and, therefore, no rollback strategy is required.
