============================================================================= Run Date: DEC 08, 2020 Designation: PSB*3*127 Package : PSB - BAR CODE MED ADMIN Priority: Mandatory Version : 3 SEQ #106 Status: Released Compliance Date: JAN 08, 2021 ============================================================================= Associated patches: (v)PSB*3*87 <<= must be installed BEFORE `PSB*3*127' (v)PSB*3*120 <<= must be installed BEFORE `PSB*3*127' Subject: AMPERSAND CHARACTER (&) IN THE SCHEDULE CAUSES ORDER ERROR IN BCBU Category: - Routine Description: ============ This patch, in conjunction with PSJ*5*406, will resolve the following issue: 1) INC11397447 - BCMA (Bar Code Medication Administration) Backup (BCBU) workstation patient print out and order display removal times for INHALATION Medications Special Notes: PSB*3.0*127 should be installed on ALL BCBU workstation computers before proceeding with VistA install of PSJ*5.0*406. Please do not continue with PSJ*5.0*406 install until this is complete. PSJ*5.0*406 does NOT need to be installed on the BCBU workstations. In VistA, install PSB*3.0*127 first and then install PSJ*5.0*406. Defect Tracking System Ticket(s) & Overview: -------------------------------------------- 1) INC11397447 - BCMA Backup workstation patient print out and order display removal times for INHALATION Medications Problem: -------- The VA North Texas Health Care System reported that when displaying and printing patient orders the print out includes removal times for medications that do not require removal. The source of the problem was identified in the schedule used for these orders. If it contains the ampersand character (&), e.g. AC&HS, it shifts fields within the HL7 message communicated between the main VistA system and the BCBU workstation, which causes it to populate the REMOVE TIMING field (#7.4) within the ORDER NUMBER sub-file (#53.702) in the BCMA BACKUP DATA file (#53.7). Solution: --------- Changed the routine PSJHL3 via the PSJ*5.0*406 patch to escape the schedule field value before including it in the HL7 message bound to the BCBU workstation and changed the processing of the incoming message to un-escape schedule field value before parsing when at the BCBU workstation. Technical Resolution: --------------------- This patch changes the routine ALPBHL1U at line tag RXE+29 to un-escape the schedule field value before parsing when processing the incoming HL7 message at the BCBU workstation. Test Sites: ----------- Ralph H. Johnson VAMC (Charleston, SC) North Texas HCS (Dallas, TX) Software and Documentation Retrieval Instructions: -------------------------------------------------- The software for this patch is being released using a host file. The host file is available at the following location: /srv/vista/patches/SOFTWARE/PSB_3_127.KID Patch Installation: ------------------- Pre-Installation Overview ------------------------------ This patch requires FileMan v22.2 to be installed before this patch can be installed. Therefore it is important that the BCBU workstations where the this patch will be installed already have been updated with the latest version of FileMan (v22.2). Pre-Installation Instructions: The BAR CODE MED ADMIN (BCMA) users should not be using the application while this patch is being installed. It should take less than 2 minutes to install this patch. NOTE: PSB*3.0*127 should be installed on ALL BCBU workstation computers before proceeding with VistA install of PSJ*5.0*406. Please do not continue with PSJ*5.0*406 install until this is complete. PSJ*5.0*406 does NOT need to be installed on the BCBU workstations. In VistA, install PSB*3.0*127 first and then install PSJ*5.0*406. Installation Instructions: -------------------------- 1. Use the Load a Distribution option contained on the Kernel Installation and Distribution System Menu to load the Host file. When prompted to "Enter a Host File:" enter /srv/vista/patches/SOFTWARE/PSB_3_127.KID 2. From the Kernel Installation and Distribution System Menu, select the Installation Menu. From this menu, A. Select the Verify Checksums in Transport Global option to confirm the integrity of the routines that are in the transport global. When prompted for the INSTALL NAME enter the patch or build name. (ex. PSB*3.0*127) NOTE: Using will not bring up a Multi-Package build even if it was loaded immediately before this step. It will only bring up the last patch in the build. B. Select the Backup a Transport Global option to create a backup message of any routines exported with this patch. It will not backup any other changes such as DDs or templates. NOTE: Skip this step on BCBU workstation installations because an error will be generated and the action will fail due to MailMan limitations on the BCBU workstations. See the Back-out/Rollback Strategy section for how to handle backing up the BCBU workstations. C. You may also elect to use the following options: i. Print Transport Global - This option will allow you to view the components of the KIDS build. ii. Compare Transport Global to Current System - This option will allow you to view all changes that will be made when this patch is installed. It compares all of the components of this patch, such as routines, DDs, templates, etc. D. Select the Install Package(s) option and choose the patch to install. i. If prompted 'Want KIDS to Rebuild Menu Trees Upon Completion of Install? NO//', answer NO. ii. When prompted 'Want KIDS to INHIBIT LOGONs during the install? NO//', answer NO. iii. When prompted 'Want to DISABLE Scheduled Options, Menu Options, and Protocols? NO//', answer NO. iv. If prompted 'Delay Install (Minutes): (0-60): 0//' answer 0. Post-Installation Overview: --------------------------- None. Back-out/Rollback Strategy: --------------------------- Back-out will be done only with the concurrence and participation of development team and appropriate VA site/region personnel. The decision to back-out or rollback software will be a joint decision between development team, VA site/region personnel and other appropriate VA personnel. Prior to installing an updated KIDS package, the site/region should have saved a backup of the routines in a mail message using the Backup a Transport Global [XPD BACKUP] menu option (this is done at time of install). The message containing the backed up routines can be loaded with the "Xtract PackMan" function at the Message Action prompt. The Packman function "INSTALL/CHECK MESSAGE" is then used to install the backed up routines onto the VistA System. For BCBU Workstation without Mailman ------------------------------------------------- Prior to installing the patch, stop Cache on the workstation, make a copy of the Cache.DAT file and place in a different folder, then re-start Cache. In case you need to back-out the patch you can stop Cache on the Workstation And use the copied file and overwrite the original Cache.DAT file (with the patch). The back-out plan is to restore the routines from the backup created. No data was modified by this patch installation and, therefore, no rollback strategy is required. Validation of Roll Back Procedure: ---------------------------------- The Roll Back Procedure can be verified by printing the first 2 lines of the ALPB Routines contained in this patch using the option First Line Routine Print [XU FIRST LINE PRINT]. Once the routines contained in the PSB*3.0*127 patch have been rolled back, the first two lines of the Routines will no longer contain the designation of patch PSB*3.0*127 in the patch list section on line 2. Routine Information: ==================== The second line of each of these routines now looks like: ;;3.0;BAR CODE MED ADMIN;**[Patch List]**;March 2004;Build 4 The checksums below are new checksums, and can be checked with CHECK1^XTSUMBLD.
