INC11595511 - UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO IV ROOM FILE (#59.5) Patch Components: ----------------- Options Associated: Option Name Type New/Modified/Deleted -------------------------- ------- ------------------- INDIVIDUAL ORDER SUSPENSION (IV) Edit Modified INDIVIDUAL LABELS (IV) Edit Modified SCHEDULED LABELS (IV) Edit Modified MANUFACTURING LIST (IV) Edit Modified REPRINT LABELS FROM SUSPENSE (IV) Edit Modified Problem: -------- If the START OF COVERAGE (59.5,2) in file IV ROOM (59.5) for any IV Type such as Piggyback, Chemotherapy, Syringe, Hyperal or Admixtures is missing, and a user is using that IV Room in backdoor pharmacy-related functionality, they may be warned "Manufacturing Time(s) missing for 'IV type'" and then prompted "Would you like to edit this IV room?". If user answers "yes", they are allowed to edit/update that IV Room/ without the requirement for the PSJI MGR security key. Resolution: ----------- The proposed solution to this issue is to prevent users without the PSJI MGR security key from editing the IV ROOM (59.5) file and instead, display a message on how the problem can be fixed and return them to the previous menu.(Message: "The [name of file 59.5 entry] IV ROOM can be updated using option 'Site Parameters (IV)' by a holder of the PSJI MGR VistA Security Key. Contact the Pharmacy Informaticist to update the IV Room parameters." You are being returned to the Option Menu.) Users with the proper security key will be able to update the affected IV Room via the Supervisors Menu (IV) and then selecting the Site Parameters (IV) option. Technical Resolution: --------------------- Modify the PSIVSET and PSIVXU routines to prevent editing of the IV ROOM (59.5) file when the user is not using the appropriate Inpatient Pharmacy menu option Site Parameters (IV) [PSJI SITE PARAMETERS]. Instead, present a warning message to the user to contact the Pharmacy Informaticist for the IV Room Parameters to be updated. After displaying the message, return the user to their previous menu or exit the application if using a top level menu. Also, a DONE flag was added to several routines or the Entry Action field of specific options in order to exit those options gracefully. Back-Out/Roll Back Plan: ------------------------ Back-out will be done only with the concurrence and participation of development team and appropriate VA site/region personnel. The decision to back-out or rollback software will be a joint decision between development team, VA site/region personnel and other appropriate VA personnel. Prior to installing an updated KIDS package, the site/region should have saved a backup of the routines in a mail message using the Backup a Transport Global [XPD BACKUP] menu option (this is done at time of install). The message containing the backed-up routines can be loaded with the "Xtract PackMan" function at the Message Action prompt. The Packman function "INSTALL/CHECK MESSAGE" is then used to install the backed up routines onto the VistA System. The back-out plan is to restore the routines from the backup created. No data was modified by this patch installation and, therefore, no rollback strategy is required. Validation of Back-out Procedure -------------------------------- The Back-out Procedure can be verified by printing the first 2 lines of the routine contained in this patch using the option First Line Routine Print [XU FIRST LINE PRINT]. Once the routine contained in the PSJ*5.0*407 patch has been backed out, the first two lines of the routine will no longer contain the designation of this patch in the patch Routine Information: ==================== The second line of each of these routines now looks like: ;;5.0;INPATIENT MEDICATIONS;**[Patch List]**;DEC 16, 1997;Build 26 The checksums below are new checksums, and can be checked with CHECK1^XTSUMBLD.
