INC25661636 - Certain IV orders not displaying correctly in CPRS and VistA Problem: -------- When a continuous IV order is entered in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) with a free text infusion rate that contains a decimal value less than "1.0" (with or without a preceding 0), the system processes it as a numeric infusion rate and adds the "ml/hr" suffix. This also causes issues when trying to designate the number of labels to print with the "@" symbol as the order finishing process in the Inpatient Order Entry option [PSJ OE] or the Order Entry (IV) option [PSJI ORDER] does not recognize the "@" and removes it and the number that follows it. Resolution: ----------- The logic used to evaluate a free text infusion rate has been updated to evaluate the entire free text entry instead of each component of it separately. Technical Resolution: --------------------- The logic in ORINF^PSIVSP, called from the ORWDPS32 VALRATE Remote Procedure Call (RPC), has been updated by enclosing the entire infusion rate entry in parentheses so that the string is evaluated as a complete entry instead of in separate sections. Post-Installation Instructions: None Back-Out/Roll Back Plan: ------------------------ Back-out will be done only with the concurrence and participation of the development team and appropriate VA site/region personnel. The decision to back-out software will be a joint decision between the development team, VA site/region personnel and other appropriate VA personnel. Prior to installing an updated Kernel Installation & Distribution System (KIDS) package, the site/region should have saved a backup of the routine in a mail message using the Backup a Transport Global option [XPD BACKUP] from the Installation menu [XPD INSTALLATION MENU]. The back-out plan is to restore the routine from the backup created. The message containing the backed-up routine can be loaded with the "Xtract PackMan" function at the Message Action prompt. The PackMan function "INSTALL/CHECK MESSAGE" is then used to install the backed-up routine onto the VistA system. If the patch was backed up for the build, from the Kernel Installation & Distribution System Menu [XPD MAIN], select the Installation menu [XPD INSTALLATION MENU]. Then select the Install Package(s) option [XPD INSTALL BUILD] and choose the patch (PSJ*5.0*439b) to install. No data was modified by this patch installation and, therefore no rollback strategy is required. Validation of Back-Out Plan: ---------------------------- The back-out plan can be verified by printing the first two lines of the routine contained in this patch using the First Line Routine Print option [XU FIRST LINE PRINT]. After the routine contained in this patch has been backed out, the second line of the routine will no longer contain the designation of this patch in the patch list section. Routine Information: ==================== The second line of each of these routines now looks like: ;;5.0;INPATIENT MEDICATIONS;**[Patch List]**;16 DEC 97;Build 1 The checksums below are new checksums, and can be checked with CHECK1^XTSUMBLD.
