EHRM Impact Statement: ---------------------- - This patch can be installed at all sites, including EHRM converted sites. INC29125249 - VISTA DISPENSE DRUG WITH 0 QTY SHOWS AS MED TO GIVE IN BCMA Problem: -------- If pharmacy updates an inpatient medication by setting the dispense units per dose to zero, but does not delete or inactivate the dispense drug, BCMA will still allow the end-user/nurse to scan the dispense drug that has "0" dispense units per dose. If an additional dispense drug is added to the order, the drug with zero units per dose can be scanned for administration along with the new dispense drug's units per dose. Resolution: ----------- The decision is to generate a warning message when an active dispense drug has "0" (zero) Units Per Dose. The warning message is: WARNING: Units Per Dose of 0 can still be administered using BCMA. If this is NOT to be given, enter an inactive date or delete the dispense drug. Technical Resolution: --------------------- Modify routines PSGOE82 & PSGOE92 to generate a warning message when any dispense drug in an order that does not have an inactive date (INACTIVE DATE field #.03 of the DISPENSE DRUG multiple #2 in the UNIT DOSE multiple #62 of the Pharmacy Patient file #55) of today or earlier and has a Units Per Dose set to "0" (zero). Routine PSJDOSE is modified to move the pause to PSGOE82 & PSGOE92 so that the message 'Type to continue or '^' to exit:' will only display once for instances when the warning message 'Dosage Ordered and Dispense Units do not match. Please verify Dosage.' is also generated. Routine PSJCOM is updated to display the warning message when verifying complex orders. Routines PSJOE1 and PSGOEV were updated to display the Units Per Dose of 0 warning message. Back-out/Rollback Strategy: --------------------------- Back-out will be done only with the concurrence and participation of development team and appropriate VA site/region personnel. The decision to back-out or rollback software will be a joint decision between development team, VA site/region personnel and other appropriate VA personnel. Prior to installing an updated KIDS package, the site/region should have saved a backup of the routines in a mail message using the Backup a Transport Global [XPD BACKUP] menu option (this is done at time of install). The message containing the backed-up routines can be loaded with the "Xtract PackMan" function at the Message Action prompt. The PackMan function "INSTALL/CHECK MESSAGE" is then used to install the backed-up routines onto the VistA System. If the patch was backed up for the build, from the Kernel Installation and Distribution System Menu, select the Installation Menu. Then select the Install Package(s) option [XPD INSTALL BUILD] and choose the patch (PSJ*5.0*449b) to install. The back-out plan is to restore the routines or build from the backup created. No data was modified by this patch installation and, therefore, no rollback strategy is required. Validation of Back-out Procedure --------------------------------- The Back-out Procedure can be verified by confirming the checksums have been returned to the pre-patch value using CHECK1^XTSUMBLD. It can also be verified by printing the first 2 lines of the PSJ routine(s) contained in this patch using the option First Line Routine Print [XU FIRST LINE PRINT]. Once the routine(s) contained in this patch have been backed out, the Second line of each routine will no longer contain the designation of patch PSJ*5.0*449. Routine Information: ==================== The second line of each of these routines now looks like: ;;5.0;INPATIENT MEDICATIONS ;**[Patch List]**;DEC 97;Build 18 The checksums below are new checksums, and can be checked with CHECK1^XTSUMBLD.
