 The FDA Med Guides On-Demand Viewing software (Java component) is a 
 Windows Desktop program designed to be deployed on Pharmacy user computers
 that will be used for retrieving FDA Medication Guides via Outpatient
 Pharmacy or National Drug File applications. This application receives
 inputs from Vista and sends to browser to display the pdf.
  
 This patch was initiated to remediate code quality and security 
 vulnerabilities issues, which also helps to bring the application into 
 compliance with VA Security Standards in the current Java code.

 Routine Fortify scanning and remediation is performed to maintain 
 compliance.  
  
  
 Resolution:
 -----------
 The FDA Med Guides On-Demand Viewing application code has been updated to 
 comply with VA Security and Code Quality Standards by remediating the 
 security vulnerabilities. The code fixes in the application have been
 validated by the VA Software Assurance Team to ensure compliance with the
 standards. 
  
 No application functionality has changed.

 Installation Instructions:

 The FDA Medication Guide On-Demand Viewing (Increment 2) project 
 contains a Java Application component, which is distributed in the
 PSN_4_P570.ZIP file. This file contains an executable file that should
 be installed on Pharmacy user computers that will be used for retrieving
 FDA Medication Guides via Outpatient Pharmacy or National Drug File 
 applications. For detailed installation instructions please refer to the
 "FDA Medication Guides Project Installation Guide" document.
  
 Java Application Component Installation Instructions:
 ----------------------------------------------------
  
 In order to install the Java Application component, follow these steps:
  
   1. Uninstall the old version of FDA Medication Guides On-Demand Viewing 
      Java component (Increment 2). Follow the instructions given in the 
      Installation Guide
  
   2. Unzip the PSN_4_P570.ZIP file 
  
   3. Follow the installation instructions given in the Installation Guide.
      Note: you must have administrator rights on the machine when you 
            run it.
