Adjustments will be made for Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card certificate expiration and revocation alerts for pharmacists and providers. A new menu has been created for Virtual Pharmacy Services (VPS) pharmacy users together with a new VPS productivity report. Partial refills of controlled substances will be prohibited. A new parameter will be created for Meds by Mail to permit State Prescription Monitoring Program (SPMP) transmissions to go to the point of medication delivery. Updates have been made to SPMP logic for the IRIS data management software platform. The PSO PROVIDER ADD, PSO PROVIDER EDIT, and PSO PROVIDER INQUIRE options received enhancements. Patch PSO*7*630 contains the following changes: 1. Adjust logic for identifying when a provider's "DETOX/MAINTENANCE ID NUMBER" needs to be included on prescriptions transmitted to states. SPMP data sent to the state/vendor needs to limit the inclusion of a provider's XDEA number to be listed in the PRE09 segment only when the drug being referenced on the DSP08 NDC # for the product segment references a buprenorphine-containing product. 2. Adjust PIV Card Certificate Expiration Alert for Pharmacist and Provider. This is will be accomplished by updating the OE/RR Notification file #100.9 for #76. Before changes: NUMBER: 76 NAME: DEA CERTIFICATE EXPIRED MESSAGE TEXT: DEA certificate expired. Renew your certificate. After changes: NUMBER: 76 NAME: PIV Certificate Expired MESSAGE TEXT: Rx processed: PIV Card Cert Expired - NO ACTION REQ 3. Adjust PIV Card Certificate Revoked Alert for Pharmacist and Provider. This will be accomplished by updating the OE/RR Notification file #100.9 for #75. Before changes: NUMBER: 75 NAME: DEA CERTIFICATE REVOKED MESSAGE TEXT: Med orders(s) DCed. Cert revoked. Contact Pharm. After changes: NUMBER: 75 NAME: PIV Certificate Revoked MESSAGE TEXT: Rx NOT processed: PIV Card Certificate Revoked 4. The MbM-VPS Pharmacy Users Menu [PSO MBM-VPS PHARMACY MENU] This new menu contains 4 existing Class I pharmacy options plus a MbM-VPS report as a fifth option. This standard menu was developed so that the MbM-VPS users have access to a menu that is standard throughout the VA with the options they use to perform their work. Please note that the MbM-VPS users will need to be assigned this menu after the patch is installed. The following is the new standard menu and associated options: Select MbM-VPS Pharmacy Users Menu Option: C Complete Orders from OERR P Patient Prescription Processing V View Prescriptions L Lookup into Dispense Drug File R MbM-VPS Productivity Report 5. Prohibit Partial Refills of Controlled Substances The software supporting the PSO PARTIAL protocol was modified to not allow the Partial fill of controlled substances. 6. Centralized SPMP transmission & Meds by Mail A new field, Send Export State Parameter, has been created in the SPMP State Parameters file (#58.41). The Send Export State Parameter field determines how states will be identified for receiving the SPMP batch exports. Users can set how a state will receive SPMP export transmissions by setting the parameter for one of these values: Null or 0 - Use the geographic pharmacy state. 1 - Use both geographic state and state of patient delivery. note: Setting to 1 will require that the state of patient delivery be set up at a site. 2 - Use the state of patient delivery. Appropriate for Meds by Mail only. 7. SPMP Intersystems Cache Fix Update the SPMP logic for View/Edit SPMP State Parameters [PSO SPMP STATE PARAMETERS] and Export Batch Processing [PSO SPMP BATCH PROCESSING] options to include "IRIS" in addition to "CACHE" when checking the Intersystems version in the logic. This will allow VistA to automatically create or ask the user if they want to manually create a new directory for sites running Intersystems "CACHE" or "IRIS" versions. 8. Update PSO PROVIDER ADD and PSO PROVIDER EDIT options. Update the Add New Providers [PSO PROVIDER ADD] option and the Edit Provider [PSO PROVIDER EDIT] options with the following changes: a. Add the Drug Schedule Authorization fields (#55.1-55.6) in the NEW PERSON file (#200) to the display and make available to add/edit. b. Make the following fields from the NEW PERSON file (#200) available to edit only if the PROVIDER TYPE="FEE BASIS" or PROVIDER TYPE="C & A" or NON-VA PRESCRIBER= "YES" or the PHARMACY OPERATING MODE= "MBM": - DEA EXPIRATION DATE field (#747.44) - SCHEDULE II NARCOTIC (#55.1) - SCHEDULE II NON-NARCOTIC (#55.2) - SCHEDULE III NARCOTIC (#55.3) - SCHEDULE III NON-NARCOTIC (#55.4) - SCHEDULE IV (#55.5) - SCHEDULE V (#55.6) - SERVICE/SECTION (#29) c. Change the display label "DEA#" to "DEA NUMBER". d. Change the display label "DETOX/MAINTENANCE ID#" to "DETOX NUMBER". e. Move the "PROVIDER TYPE:" prompt to immediately after the "NON-VA PRESCRIBER:" prompt. 9. Update the PSO PROVIDER INQUIRE option. Update the View Provider [PSO PROVIDER INQUIRE] option with the following changes: a. Change the display label "DEA#" to "DEA NUMBER". b. Change the display label "DETOX/MAINTENANCE ID#" to "DETOX NUMBER". c. Make the placement of labels consistent - always display on the same column (either left or right). d. Make the text (wording and case) of the labels consistent with the Add New Providers [PSO PROVIDER ADD] option and the Edit Provider [PSO PROVIDER EDIT] option. ******* NOTICE ******* This Pharmacy Safety Updates package is an enhancement that includes 2 patches that must be installed in the following order: 1. Adds a standard menu, PSO MBM-VPS PHARMACY MENU, with five options (described at item 4. in the description). Instructions to the site installer: ----------------------------------- The MbM-VPS users will need the PSO MBM-VPS PHARMACY MENU added to their VistA user profile. Installation Verification: -------------------------- Successful installation can be verified by reviewing the first 2 lines of the routines contained in the patch. The second line on every routine in this patch will contain the patch number (630). The option Calculate and Show Checksum Values [XTSUMBLD-CHECK] can be run to compare the routine checksums to what is documented in the patch description. Backout /Rollback Strategy: --------------------------- Back-out will be done only with the concurrence and participation of development team and appropriate VA site/region personnel. The decision to back-out or rollback software will be a joint decision between development team, VA site/region personnel and other appropriate VA personnel. Prior to installing an updated KIDS package, the site/region should have saved a backup of the routines in a mail message using the Backup a Transport Global [XPD BACKUP] menu option (this is done at time of install). The message containing the backed-up routines can be loaded with the "Xtract PackMan" function at the Message Action prompt. The Packman function "INSTALL/CHECK MESSAGE" is then used to install the backed-up routines onto the VistA System. No data was modified by this patch installation and, therefore, no rollback strategy is required. Validation of Back-out Procedure --------------------------------- The Back-out Procedure can be verified by printing the first 2 lines of the PSS Routines contained in this patch using the option First Line Routine Print [XU FIRST LINE PRINT]. Once the routines contained in the PSO*7.0*630 patch have been rolled back, the first two lines of the Routines will no longer contain the designation of patch PSO*7.0*630 in the patch list section on line 2. Routine Information: ==================== The second line of each of these routines now looks like: ;;7.0;OUTPATIENT PHARMACY;**[Patch List]**;DEC 1997;Build 26 The checksums below are new checksums, and can be checked with CHECK1^XTSUMBLD.
