There are no VistA patches associated with this release. ********************************************************************* EPCS V2.2.1.0 Hot Fix ---------------------- This patch addresses the following issue: INC28995743 - ePCS Unavailable at Indianapolis VAMC The Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (ePCS) Graphical User Interface (GUI) application V2.2.1.0 that was released with PSO*7*735 implemented a change that forced the use of two factor authentication and prevented the use of Access Code and Verify Code to log in to the ePCS GUI. The ePCS GUI used the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Broker to authenticate the user via automatic certificate selection functionality implemented in the Broker Development Kit (BDK) release XWB*1.1*73. Issues logging in to ePCS GUI were subsequently reported when some commercial certificates present on users' Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) caused the Broker to automatically select an incorrect certificate, making it impossible for those users to access the ePCS GUI application, since there was no alternate method of selecting the certificate. To prevent this issue, the ePCS V2.2.1.1 makes use of the Broker ShowCertDialog component, eliminating the possibility that an ePCS user is unable to log in to ePCS GUI if an incorrect certificate is selected by the RPC Broker. The enabled ShowCertDialog component requires users to manually confirm the certificate, and provides the user with the ability to select a different certificate when available. INC28995743 - ePCS GUI Unavailable at Indianapolis VAMC Problem: -------- A significant portion of ePCS GUI users at Richard L. Roudebush VAMC (Indianapolis, IN) were not able to log in to ePCS GUI after the installation of PSO*7*735 and ePCS GUI v2.2.1.0. The presence of certain commercial certificates on some users' Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) laptop caused the Kernel Broker Development Kit (BDK) to automatically select the incorrect certificate when attempting to log in to VistA via the ePCS GUI. The users were then prompted for Access Code and Verify Code, which the ePCS GUI rejected as not two-factor authentication compliant, and the user was not able to log in to ePCS GUI. Resolution: ----------- The ePCS GUI was modified to enable the ShowCertDialog property during authentication and connection to VistA via the Kernel RPC Broker, enabling the display and manual selection of a user's authentication certificate. This ensures the correct certificate will be available for selection by the ePCS user during login if it is present on the machine. Test Sites: ----------- Michael E. DeBakey VAMC, Houston, TX W.G.
