XU*8.0*686 2. HDI*1.0*21 3. PSS*1.0*211 ************************************************************************** The VA has established a process for implementing standard terminology/terminologies within individual clinical domains for the exchange of data. The intent of this effort is to provide the detailed groundwork necessary for industry-wide interoperability. The objective of this process is to enable the most user friendly interface as possible in the implementation of the native standardization along with all of the activities required to operationalize the change within the VistA environment and the associated terminology consuming applications. This patch implements Medications Dosage Form domain changes required by the Collaborative Terminology Tooling & Data Management (CTT & DM) Native Domain Standardization (NDS) project. This patch adds a new MASTER DOSAGE FORM file (#50.60699), and a new MASTER DOSAGE FORM field (#90) in the DOSAGE FORM file (#50.606) pointing to the new MASTER DOSAGE FORM file (#50.60699). The new MASTER DOSAGE FORM file (#50.60699) contains the RxNorm Dosage Form value set. The new MASTER DOSAGE FORM field (#90) in the DOSAGE FORM file (#50.606) points to the MASTER DOSAGE FORM file (#50.60699), and provides a method of associating VA VistA DOSAGE FORM file (#50.606) file entries to the RxNorm standard code set. In addition to the new file and field described above, the following two Functional changes are included in this patch: 1) The RxNorm Dosage Form name has been added to the Noun/Dosage Form Report [PSS DOSE FORM/NOUN REPORT], for DOSAGE FORM file (#50.606) entries that are associated to an RxNorm dosage form in the MASTER DOSAGE FORM file (#50.60699). Example, Noun/Dosage Form Report [PSS DOSE FORM/NOUN REPORT] ---------------------------------------------------------------- Dosage Form [RxNorm Name] Dispense Units per Dose PAGE: 53 Noun(s) Package-->Local Possible Dosage -------------------------------------------------------------------- TAB,SA [Extended Release Oral Tablet] (1,2) (No Nouns) TAB,SA,24HR [24 Hour Extended Release Tablet] (1,2) (No Nouns) TAB,SOLUBLE (1,2) TABLET(S) IO--> 1 TABLET IO--> 2 TABLETS 2) The RxNorm Dosage Form name has been added as an identifier to lookups Into the DOSAGE FORM file (#50.606), for DOSAGE FORM file (#50.606) entries that are associated to an RxNorm dosage form in the MASTER DOSAGE FORM file (#50.60699). Example, RxNorm Identifier in the DOSAGE FORM file (#50.606) ---------------------------------------------------------------- Select DOSAGE FORM NAME: TAB,SA 1 TAB,SA 2 TAB,SA [EXTENDED RELEASE] 3 TAB,SA,24HR [EXTENDED RELEASE] CHOOSE 1-3: Files & Fields Associated: -------------------------- ********************************************************************** * NOTE: A new file, MASTER DOSAGE FORM (#50.60699) has been created. * * This file ^PSMDF(50.60699) is of minimal size (less than 400k) * * with a low growth expectation.
