VistALink consists of Java-side adapter libraries and an M-side listener, enabling Java and J2EE applications to call and execute existing Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs) on VistA M servers. VistALink is being leveraged by an expanding number of existing and future J2EE applications. This new version was tested at the following Medical Center test sites: - Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (North Chicago, IL) - Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center (Augusta, GA) - El Paso VA Health Care System (El Paso, TX) - Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (Biloxi, MS) - Puget Sound Health Care System (Seattle, WA) - San Diego Healthcare System (San Diego, CA) - Southern Nevada Healthcare System (Las Vegas, NV) SOFTWARE CHANGES ================ New features for J2EE/WebLogic administrators include: - Compatibility of all components with WebLogic versions v9.2 and higher (including v10 and v11g) - Support for WebLogic v9/10/11g's "J2EE Shared Library" feature to reduce resource consumption of resource adapter libraries - Support for J2CA v1.5-compatible resource adapters, including the ability for to deploy and manage multiple adapters as a single deployment unit - Elimination of DNS lookup caching of M system IP addresses (allowing dynamic DNS changes of system IP addresses to be registered by resource adapters) New features for M/VistA administrators include: - On Cachi/Linux systems, support to launch VistALink listener via Linux XINETD - Client IP addresses for failed client connections are now captured in the error trap SOFTWARE RETRIEVAL ================== The software for this package is available for retrieval via FTP as of 1/18/2011. A single XOB_1_6_0_028.ZIP file contains all the files necessary to install VistALink on both Java and M systems. The KIDS file contains three new VistA packages: XOBU 1.6, XOBS 1.6, and XOBV 1.5. Java components should be upgraded as needed to support newer versions of WebLogic. The v1.6 listener is backwards compatible with v1.5 (and v1.0) VistALink java clients. VistALink v1.6 was reviewed by the Blood Bank team and no problems were found.
