 Description:

 Two related patches are being distributed in a single host file.  These
 patches provide a new Kernel utility, the Lock Manager.  It is based on 
 the Class 3 VistA Lock Manager developed by Tommy Martin. Both patches are
 listed below and will be installed in the order listed.
  
 XU*8.0*608      - This patch contains all the software components that 
                   make up the Kernel Lock Manager.
  
  
 XU*8.0*607      - This patch will populate the new XULM LOCK DICTIONARY 
                   file (#8993).  It requires the KIDS enhancement patch
                   XU*8.0*672.
  
  
  
 Patch XU*8.0*607 contains the contents of the XULM LOCK DICTIONARY file
 (#8993), which is a database of descriptions for locks set by 
 applications. Entries in the XULM LOCK DICTIONARY file (#8993) belong to
 the various applications that use the locks and may be included in patches
 and distributed via KIDS.  The XULM LOCK DICTIONARY file (#8993) provides
 the application-specific expertise that enables the Kernel Lock Dictionary
 to provide feedback and guidance to users that are investigating locks
 found within the VistA CACHE lock table.

 Patch XU*8*607 contains changes to a package referenced in VHA OI SEPG SOP
 192-023 Review of VISTA Patches for Effects on VISTA Blood Bank Software.
 This patch does not alter or modify any VistA Blood Bank software design
 safeguards or safety critical elements functions.
  
 RISK ANALYSIS: Changes made by patch XU*8*607 have no effect on Blood Bank
 software functionality, therefore RISK is none.
