This is to comply with VHA DIRECTIVE 1080, ACCESS TO PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS. As an example, the changes will prevent the Joint Legacy Viewer (JLV) application from getting rejected by local configurations like "multiple sign-ons not allowed." In addition, a problem of duplicate secondary menu options was discovered when remote applications like JLV accessed remote VistA sites. A new RPC has been created to support remote applications to check the status of a user. This patch does not alter or modify any VistA Blood Bank software design safeguards or safety critical elements functions. RISK ANALYSIS: Changes made by patch XU*8*727 have no effect on Blood Bank software functionality, therefore, RISK is none. New Service Requests (NSRs): N/A Patient Safety Issues (PSIs): N/A Defect Tracking System Ticket(s) & Overview: INC2187419 Problem: -------- 1) Local configurations in some VHA sites prevent remote applications from accessing necessary data. The directive mentioned in the description allows remote applications like JLV to access VHA data across multiple VHA sites. However, the existing VistA Kernel options allow local VHA sites to apply their local policy which may conflict with remote applications like JLV and prevent access to the data. 2) Duplicate secondary menu options are created for some users when remote applications like JLV are using multiple sign-ons to access data. Resolution: ----------- 1) Routine XUESSO4 has been modified to comply with the directive. 2) Routine XUSBSE1 has been modified to prevent accidental addition of duplicate secondary menu options.
