DG*5.3*589, RG*1.0*35, MPIF*1.0*24, MPIF*1.0*27, MPIF*1.0*28,and MPIF*1.0*31 are required builds for patch MPIF*1*33 This patch is for the Master Patient Index/Patient Demographics (MPI/PD) Changes Iteration 2 project. Issue 1: The Local/Missing ICN Resolution Background Job [MPIF LOC/ MIS ICN RES] job needs to run more frequently to support getting Integration Control Number (ICN) assignments for a patient as soon as possible. The job should be scheduled to run every 600 seconds instead of once per day. This is noted in Installation Instructions section, step 11. Issue 2: Prior to this patch, the following were not sent to the Master Patient Index (MPI) for ICN assignment: - patients with last names that begin with ZZ, - patients that have 5 leading zeros for the social security number, - patients with last names that begin with "EEE, and - patients with last names that begin with "Merging" (for the patients in the process of being merged via the Duplicate Record Merge software). As part of this patch, those data screens are being removed and these patients will be sent to the MPI for ICN assignment. This can be confirmed by using the Patient MPI/PD Data Inquiry [RG EXCEPTION TF INQUIRY] option to see that the entry has a national ICN. NOTE: DG*5.3*589 will remove the "AMPIZZ" and "ATSSN" cross-references that automatically inactivate ICNs when existing patients are ZZ'd or have the SSN changed to one with 5 leading zeros. Issue 3: Currently patients that are missing the DATE OF BIRTH (#.03) field in the PATIENT file (#2) aren't sent to the MPI for assignment of an ICN. As part of this patch, that screen is being removed and these patients will be sent to the MPI. There will no longer be an exception on the MPI/PD exception handler noting these patients are missing a DATE OF BIRTH (#.03), as an exception is now logged on the MPI. Routines involved include: MPIFBT1, MPIFRES, MPIFQ0, and MPIFVTQ. Issue 4: When two patients in the same VistA system attempt to have the same ICN assigned, an exception is logged and a mail message sent notifying members of the RG CIRN DEMOGRAPHIC ISSUES mail group of the potential duplicate patient on their system. The mail message has been improved to provide the Name, Social Security Number and internal entry number in the PATIENT (#2) file for each patient involved in the potential duplicate pair as well as more detailed instructions on what should be done. Since this exception is logged from several locations, a common entry point has been provided to log the exception and trigger the e-mail message. Routines involved include: MPIF001, MPIF002, MPIFAPI, MPIFBT3, MPIFQ0, and MPIFQ1. Issue 5: In the past, if there was an exact match on the MPI, but the sex was different and you used Single Patient Initialization to MPI [MPIF IND MPI LOAD], it would automatically assign that ICN to your patient. That has been corrected. Now you will get a list from which to choose. If you attempt to select that patient, the software will not allow this because of the sex difference. Option: ------- The Inactivate Patient from MPI [MPIF PAT INACT] option is being removed from the Master Patient Index Menu [MPIF VISTA MENU]. Post-Initialization Routine: ---------------------------- This patch makes updates/changes to the CIRN HL7 EXCEPTION TYPE (#991.11) file in post-init routine RGP35PST. Exception 209, "Required field(s) missing for patient sent to MPI", is updated to make the text more generic. Additionally, the RG CIRN DEMOGRAHIC ISSUES mail group is removed from exception 227, "Multiple ICNs", MAIL GROUP (#6) field. This will prevent the exception handler from sending an e-mail notification. The e-mail will still be sent, just not from within the exception handler.
