Subject: MPI/PD EXCEPTION MESSAGE SCREENING

Description:

  This is an emergency patch that should be installed immediately by
  all sites that have installed Clinical Information Resource Network -
  Patient Demographics and Master Patient Index (CIRN PD/MPI) version 1.0.
  
  RG*1.0*3 is a required build for patch RG*1*11.
   
  1.) A problem has been identified wherein a CIRN PD/MPI processing
  routine was incorrectly executed by a non-CIRN PD/MPI application
  (e.g., commercial off the shelf (COTS) interface).  The processing
  routine generated a large number (e.g., thousands) of exception
  messages to the CIRN EXCEPTION MGT mail group on FORUM.  The RGHLLOG
  routine has been modified to check for the RG, VA and MPI name spaced
  applications and screen out all others.  If either the sending
  application or receiving application falls into the above namespaces,
  the exception message will be delivered to the CIRN EXCEPTION MGT
  mail group.
   
  2.) The definition of the XMDUZ variable has been changed.  
  Previously, it was not static.  It was set to "HL7 MSG#:"
  concatenated with the internal entry number (IEN) of the record
  in the HL7 MESSAGE ADMINISTRATION (#773) file.  Now, XMDUZ is
  defined as "MPI/PD exception notification".
   
  Integration Agreement (IA) number 3244 has been created to cover
  this functionality.

  Installation Instructions:
  ==========================
  
  This patch may be loaded with users on the system.  You may wish
  to install it during non-peak hours.  Installation will take less
  than 2 minutes.
   
  1.  Using the TaskMan option Schedule/Unschedule Options [XUTM SCHEDULE],
      unschedule the following option:
      VAFC BATCH UPDATE          UPDATE BATCH JOB FOR HL7 v2.3
   
  2.  Use the INSTALL/CHECK MESSAGE option on the Packman menu.  [Note: 
      TEXT PRINT/DISPLAY option in the PackMan menu will display the 
      patch text only.]
   
  3.  None of the routines in the CIRN Patient Demographics package
      have been recommended for routine mapping.
   
  4.  From the Kernel Installation and Distribution System Menu, select
      the Installation menu.
   
  5.  From this menu, you may elect to use the following options (when
      prompted for the INSTALL NAME, enter RG*1.0*11).
   
      (a)  Backup a Transport Global - this option will create a backup
           message of the routine exported with the patch.  Note: Builds
           will NOT backup any other changes such as DDs or templates.
   
      (b)  Compare Transport Global to Current System - this option will
           allow you to view all changes that will be made when the
           patch is installed.  It compares all components of the patch
           (routines, DDs, templates, etc.).
   
      (c)  Verify Checksums in Transport Global - this option will allow
           you to ensure the integrity of the routines that are in the
           transport global.
   
      (d)  Print Transport Global - this option will allow you to view the
           components of the KIDS build.
   
  6.  Use the Install Package(s) option and select the package RG*1.0*11.
   
  7.  When prompted 'Want KIDS to INHIBIT LOGONs during the install?
      YES//', respond NO.
   
  8.  When prompted 'Want to DISABLE Scheduled Options, Menu Options, and
      Protocols? YES//', respond NO.
   
  9.  Using the TaskMan option Schedule/Unschedule Options [XUTM SCHEDULE],
      schedule the option VAFC BATCH UPDATE [UPDATE BATCH JOB FOR HL7 v2.3]
      to run every 10 minutes.
